Just wanted to say hello. I am just getting around to purchasing worthwhile blades, modest start right now. Started with the Spyderco Tenacious to test the waters and then ordered the Gayle Bradley which is my current EDC all purpose knife. Also have the Military model but is large for what I intended so I am trying to unload that for something else. Don't think I'll be buying anymore flea market junk knives ever again.

Typical graduating quality tendency. Most of us start that way. It's a natural progression of acquiring knowledge and constantly striving for better knives. Welcome to the forum Mr. Shark, nice to meet you:thumbup:

Congrats, and welcome to the "Feed the addiction" club.

Since you appear to like Spyderco, have you handled the Manix 2 yet? I LOVE the BBL, and the Manix is just such a sweet knife.

I'd also recommend trying out the Zero Tolerance 0350 for a great introduction into Kershaw, and the Benchmade Ritter Griptilian, to give the AXIS a try. Try to go for a custom handled one; there might be a fellow on the exchange who would trade you his for the Military.

My current EDC is a HTM DDR GH2, but that's probably way outside your comfort level for spending as of yet.

If you're looking for cheaper, there's a number of great options. Kershaw RAM is a good one, along with the Blur and Skyline. Benchmade Monochrome is a great cheap knife.

welcome to the addiction. Started with the Kershaw blur for me but i really kicked into gear when i got the tenacious. now i have a dozen sc`s and a few others as well as now im on a fixed blade kick so well see where that leads. definatly leads into lighter wallets. lol

Welcome, but you've made a big mistake. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Welcome, I to am new to nice knives. I started out with the Meyerco maxx Q M-1 and I currently edc a ZT 0350. Going for a Strider SNG next.

Save some money and stop reading now!

But if you're like the rest of us, let's look at some options:

If you feel the Millie is too big, I'd recommend a Spyderco Paramilitary 2. If you feel you're going to want high end steel, just look for a CTS-20CP version out there or there is a sprint run in M390 coming out next year.

Benchmade makes some nice blades in M390. I like the Combative Edge M1 as well...but that might be too big for what you want.

Welcome to the club...the problem is, there is no perfect knife that does it all...so you end up buying all the knives that do something a little different :)

Yeah, you will start off all innocent and curious, and before you know it, you're getting custom, hand-forged knives on order and taking trips to the middle of nowhere to get exotic knives. I joined this forum with a few knives... a few months later, I've got a dozen...

I too have been bit by the bug, had a Spyderco Tenacious come in the mail a few days ago. Nice fit/finish and shaves right out the box. Next on my list is a Kershaw Blur in the high end steel S30v.

Now looking at high end sharpening systems as well....

If you like a good knife I suggest you look at the Bark River collection. These are a high quality limited production knife, I loke my Gunny and Aurora. Also look at Bruce Gillespie. He makes some near customs knives that are quite good form a number of steels.

The bottom line on a knife though is what is it made of. Handles are nice, but it is the steel that does the work. Look at A2, D2, M1, or O1 for some good quality.
