Hello and thanks for the time to read

Just started collecting some USA knives for my collection
I have recently purchased this knife, as the description states ww2 knife but now having some doubts on its authenticity, especially the sheath
Hoping to get some verification on the blade and sheath from you clever people on whether this is ww2 or not

Thanks

you can not trust any thing being sold on ebay.ebay is rip off world of the net. you just look around this site and read all of the post on how they are selling counterfit knifes and scamming people out of there money. I am sure that if you wanted a real k-bar knife that some one here can sell it to you or point out a dealer here on this site that has them for sell.

Thanks for they reply, the more I read about it the more I release it was a poor purchase.
So it that confirmation that knife is a dud ? or at least not of the era ?

I remember the ebay auction for a ghost in a jar. it sold for a meg $$$$$ what a scam that was. I will never buy off of there site. when you buy off there site the saying goes a fool and there money are soon parted.

No doubt about it it's a 1976-77 vintage knife. I would see what the seller is or isn’t willing to do. If you can’t get satisfaction from that route I’d go right back to the people who run the bay. They do seem to be more responsive to this sort of thing than most other sites that will not get involved at all.
Real expensive lesson. For the money spent you could have invested in some reference books that will start you off with some back ground. There are also lots of threads on many different sites like this one that can often get you off to a good start. To be sure if your going to collect things chances are your going to eventually end up with something you didn’t think you where buying. It happens to all of us at one time or the other.
This is a great example of the lesson, "Buy the knife and not the story".

I can tell you, the knife is not unused. The coating is gone. The blade should be black. I thought the military versions had a hard sheath. Mine does. But the smarter folks would know that better than I do. Also, the handle is darker than new. Could be from time, but I'd bet oil from hands caused it. Just doesn't seem like the pic fits the description. Still a nice knife, but.....

Appreciate the feedback, with any luck ill try turn this mess around even if just a little
Going to buy some books and do some research before the next purchase
Thanks to all for the posts

what are you looking to buy?? old knifes?? if that is the case then stay away from ebay scam city. if you are looking for a certain knife just post a thread on the boards and I am sure that one of the wonderful members here will more than happy to help you out.

KA-BAR started re-making the MK2 in 1976 and still makes them today. If you like U.S. military knives of the WW2 era you can get a fine education at Frank Trzaska's Military Knife site, just google it. I see a lot of folks here whine about ebay and the fakes and misrepresentations, but if you know what you're doing there are a lot of fine, correct knives available there. Pretty hard to get ripped off if you are educated enough on the items you are interested in. I have found a lot of fantastic knives on ebay and they were right as rain. If you paid for that knife with paypal you should be able to get your money back, and I hope you do.

I agree with gunsil. If it’s U.S. military knives you’re interested in usmilitaryknives.com is hard to beat. Here is a link to Frank’s site.

It will take sometime to go thru the site. Check out his “knife knotes” current as well as archived. The reproduction pages will also show you a lot of things to look for when shopping for your collection.

My best advice; Be patient. Knowledge is power.

I think that when it comes to Kabars being sold as WWII that it's not so much scamming as sellers just not knowing what they're talking about. Not everyone out there are knife people and if you look at this guys' other items, he's not really a knife seller. I see toys, necklaces, ect.

Usually the Kabar copies are identified as such in the description, maybe not the title, but at least in the fine print.

I agree with gunsil, I've found lots of nice buys on ebay.. from sellers who know what they're selling.
