Hello all,
I am a longtime lurker here, finally decided to become a member. I wanted to thank the whole crew here for all of the info I have sponged from these forums.
My knife collecting history goes back about a decade, and since I have a family and don't make a fortune I only collect knives that plan on using. Up until a few days ago my collection has been mostly Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson etc...
I was recently lucky enough to make a deal for a used small lefty Sebbie. (traded with Ken Collucci, good guy)
I had read all of the stories about build quality, fit & finish etc... Having never been able to actually hold a Sebbie I figured much of this talk was simply the product of owners trying to justify the price of these knives.
I am also into digital photography and this happens on those forums all the time. Folks will fight over which manufacturer makes the best camera, and most of the time peoples opinions are based solely on what they own without ever even holding another camera ("my Canon is better than your Nikon , why? Because I spent a grand on my Canon")
Anyway, the point is this - you guys were right! I simply can not believe how well made this knife is. It's four years old and feels like it came out of the box yesterday. I have been comparing it to all of my other knives (OK, so I only have a dozen or so but still) and it blows every one of my knives away. A few of my Benchmades are only a couple of months old but can't touch the Sebbie in build quality, blade play etc..
I am thoroughly impressed. I can not put the thing down. I am already trying to figure out how to get my next Sebbie. Jeez, now I'm hooked.
Thanks to everyone here who contributes, I have learned a lot. I hope someday I can contribute something useful myself.
Scott
