Hi Guys,
I,m a new member and i'm looking for some advice. What is the best rod guided sharpening system out there? least expensive, that will put a razor sharp edge on my pocket knife.I curently own a lansky system that doesn't do a bad job but never seams to get sharp enough! I also have diamond hones for this kit. I sharpen at a 20 0/0 angle followed by a steel. Never seem to be able to get rid of burr on edge. I was thinking of useing a razor strap. Any thoughts or suggestions, I can't affored an apex system. Some tips to get my lansky to work better would be nice.
Thanks
Eric

Use very light pressure to get rid of the burr. The Lansky system will get a knife very sharp.

Hi Beakman
I know the Spyderco Sharpmaker isn't rod guided but most folks round here will agree it's an excellent piece of kit. It's one drawback is that it's very slow to remove lots of metal, to reprofile an edge for example, but the Lansky you already have will do that job just fine.

I have both systems. The Sharpmaker sees most use and is excellent for getting an edge really sharp and keeping it that way. Well worth the money.

Phil
