Hello everyone, this is my first thread on what seems to be a knowledgable and well organized forum.

I'd like use this introduction to show off my relatively small, but to my wife's dismay (heh), growing collection of knives. My choices are based on what I've uncovered using the search function, and so far I'm quite pleased with each knife I've purchased.

From top to bottom:

(1) Spyderco Native SC41PBK
(2) Benchmade Mini Griptilitan 555HG
(3) Benchmade Mini Pika 10410

My second thread will likely be an attempt a comparion review between the Native and the Mini Grip as I find myself constantly comparing their various attributes.

I look forward to learning a lot on this board and contributing in the near future.

Welcome to the forums. You have made some very nice choices there, I look forward to reading your comparison.

I should think most of us started out with junk, you did pretty well from the get go.

Thanks for the friendly comments everyone.

I actually decided to exchange the Benchmade Mini Grip 555HG for the more "classic" bigger 551 with the thumbstuds and plain drop point blade. The bigger handle should fit my hand better. Also, the thinness of the 555HG hollow ground blade was kinda getting to me.

The Mini Pika is currently my EDC, if I lose it I won't be as bothered shelling out another $25. It has the older N690 blade which I like a lot. The high placement of the clip is great, you can't tell it's a knife when clipped to my pocket.

Just got the 551 in, damn, it's bigger than I thought, but definitely a keeper. It's funny, to me, the Mini Grip is just a bit too small, and the regular Griptilian a tad too big. I continue to be impressed with the fit and finish of Benchmade products, and look forward to years of use with the 551.

Very good start:thumbup:

Not sure many of the rest of us started out so sure footed though...

Next up, you should start exploring different scales, handles and then start being a bit more secretive and devious with your wife, too much truth in knife collecting matters can generate some er, 'difficult' moments:D

Good luck with your new interest, it will almost certainly be life-long.
