Hi all, my first post on this forum. I'm on the hunt, no pun intended, to find a good fixed blade knife, 5" blade, premium steel, and well built for all around big game hunting/gutting, etc. I need some spec info on the Boker Savannah. I am getting conflicting info between the Boker website and other websites I buy knives from, specifically the thickness of the blade and the length of the blade. I can't find one in any local shops to look at and don't want to buy one online without knowing exactly what it looks like (very expensive). If you have one, can you measure your blade lenght and thickness and tell me what they are? It would be much appreciated. Also, anything else you can tell me about it or the N690BO steel it uses would help too. I contacted Boker via email, but no response. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have never seen that knife before but it seems to be very nice. The N690 steel is a very good choice for your intended uses as it holds a edge for a good amount of time and gets extremely sharp. It looks like a good performer, I would buy one if I had the money.

Thanks Knifenut. I'm still having a hard time finding it. Boker finally got back to me and confirmed that the blade is 3/16 in. thick and 4-5/8 in. long. Shorter than I had hoped. I did see an Al Mar Shiva today, which is on my list, but it was $399!!!! I could buy a new glock for that price. Hopefully someone that owns a Savannah will chime in.
