Germany made knives marked 'buffalo hunter' were very common for a while.. In the 1960s, it seems. Or, 'Original Bowie Knife', Imported into the US by Gutmann cutlery and Edge Brand and other companies. 15" overall was kinda standard length.

I'm vaguely aware of the Sussex Armory, or Arms, I forget which it was, but they generally did not sell anything of great quality or value.

You can probably have a simple sheath custom made. Or, cheaper yet, find another old 'buffalo hunter knife with a sheath.

I had that knife...puchased it from a flee market 20 years ago. I gave it to my cousin, I don't know what it's worth. I know it was made in Germany.

my blade is sort of similar to that one handle is different il have to try and post that pic on here.
one of my customers has started all this off after seeing it in my toolbox and telling me he was bidding on it in an auction in the usa but he got outbid i did look on the companys site and it was exactly the same as mine but they had it listed as very rare whale bone handle etc but my laptop died before i could find out any more and i cant find any pics of it now. but it was being sold by a company that specailised in guns and knives.
but im curious about it now and want to know more.

this is for rick11127 i know the question you asked was llast year but did you get an answer to your buffalo hunter knife or was oldknife007 able to assist you with your picture because i have a similar knife with a sheath wich has an offset belt loop to keep it comfortable but handy as it is 15 inches long and quite a tool. the sheath is also embossed with 4 running buffalos. the blade is also stamped sussex armoury and the handle is like silky black horn. well thats all i know by the way i wouldnt have a clue how to put a photo of it on here.
