Hey guys, new member here, first post. Awesome forum, lotsa good stuff here. I just got my new BK2 in the mail yesterday. What a knife! Photos online do this beast no justice. I couldn't believe the size and weight of it. The grip fits perfectly in my hand. Love the size of the handle with the palm swells. I wish the handle had a bit more grip, but I have seen some good ideas here on the forum. I like the sheath okay, but it is a bit of a pain to pull out. Even harder when you have it on your belt. I placed the knife in partially, to open the plastic a bit, and set it on the heat register when the furnace was running. It did indeed open it up a bit, and was easier to pull out, but unfortunately it was loose in the sheath, and rattled around. So, I tied a piece of cord around it, and placed it back on the heat register to tighten it back up. Worked like a charm. This leads me to my first question. What are some good aftermarket sheaths for the BK2? I like the sheaths with accessory pockets, preferably some sort of tough nylon. I saw a really nice leather sheath custom made for the BK2, but it was like $289! Nice, but ridiculously priced. Also, when I first got my knife in, I was doing the paper test. Couldn't get over how sharp it was. Notice I said was. Does this stock sheath for the BK2 make the blade dull??? Sure seems like it, as I haven't used the knife for anything else yet. Thanks for your help.

I know this $289 sheath you speak of. VERY NICE INDEED !!! I plan to have one some day. Lots of sheaths for the BK-2 online. Chestnut Ridge comes to mind, as does Red Hill.

Welcome Warrior,

This is a great place, people are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I have a helluva time trying to get the BK2 out of my sheath too. Check out some of the recent posts, someone else joined up and picked up a BK2; I believe Flexxx mentioned that you can remove the first rivet (blade side) and that solves the problem, removing or loosening the first screw does nothing.

A few make them here on the forum. Ask and you will get more info......calling all Mooses !! Congrats on the new knife.

Hey Warrior, welcome to the forum! As stated previously, you can take out the top rivet on the blade side, but I feel that is unnecessary (YMMV). I found that after a fair amount of use, the sheath will relax a little and the blade will be easier to un/resheath.

As far as after market sheaths go, the options are plenty. There are makers all over this forum (a few that hang out here too) that make custom leather or kydex. Browse around awhile. You'll find something that will meet all of your needs, and you won't have to shell out $300 either! :D

Enjoy your Becker, don't fight the urge to buy more, and give us pics ASAP!! :D

You rang?

Welcome to the Becker Forum and Bladeforums, glad you're here.

That BK2 is something else, for sure, my favorite knife.

The sheath is a bit of a pain, you can remove the top rivet on the spine side, and it will work like a champ.

Yes, the sheath does dull the knife on the draw. It won't do it forever, eventually, the knife will cut a groove in the IMP (injection molded plastic) and then its over, no more dulling.

There are many, many sheath makers here on BFC, working in leather, kydex and other material. Feel free to search the sheathmakers forum, Kiah, has a forum, CRKS, Marion David Poff, Wildmanh, Steelnut, and many more do some great work, give them a holler and check their work.

Production sheaths, such as Spec Ops, and ESEE5 sheath, are some great options. My BK2 currently rides in an ESEE5 sheath, and I love it, great sheath. My ESEE5 rides in a Spec Ops Survival Sheath, and it loves it, very much.

Good luck in your search, and stick around, we're doing several contests a month, and who knows, a Beckerhead number may just be in your future.

Once again, welcome to the forums.

Hey Warrior.....

Welcome.....Many thanks for the kind words.....

Sheath/knife retention is a delicate balance........They do loosen up over time so ya gotta put up with a little stiffness to start......Also a lot of Becker users wear them upside down on web gear...... soooo, we try to keep 'em a bit tight......Sorry about any inconvenience......Hope you enjoy the knife....Please come back after you give it a good workout.......Tell us about it, and PLEASE post pics....The natives here are much easier to get along with if you post LOTS of pics....LOL....

All Best.....

Thanks for the responses gents, much appreciated. Good to know it will loosen up a bit with use, and won't dull the blade anymore. I was a bit surprised that plastic dulled it so easily. I am a picture taking fool, so no worries there. I have a light box, the works. I have some ideas for a knife design as well. I'm fairly decent with the GIMP program. Perhaps I'll draw one up. Until I purchase a new sheath, I have some ideas for this one. Will take photos. Also, I'm going to order the BK14 here in the next couple of weeks. ;)

I just recently bought a BK2 as well and shortly there after I had to add a BK7 as well. I modified my sheath by removing the rivet, now the knife fits tightly but I can actually remove it from the sheath! I also removed the fabric belt loop and added a Tek-lok from bladetech and then installed an Esee 5 pouch.
Now I carry a small survival kit in the pouch and have a top notch sheath to go with my awsome Becker! For the BK 7 I purchased a fieldmaster sheath from Texas Hunt Co which is the same sheath as Spec ops combat master but for half the cost! Have fun with your awsome knife. I find myself looking
at my knife almost every night before I go to bed, thank god I have a wife or I'd probably sleep with the thing!

Does the Esee 5 pouch fit the BK2 sheath? Any modifying? I was actually thinking of adding a d-ring to the belt loop and extending it. This actually helps when bending down, so the sheath will have a pivot point and bend with you.

The BK2 is sweet chunk of steel. I too had issues at first with the sheath, but as Uncle E pointed out it will loosen with time. There is a thumb ramp on the sheath. Just give it a little push. I love it now. The ESEE pouch from what I've read will fit, but it's not a perfect fit on one of the bottom holes due to the sheath's shape. Other than that good to go.

I eventually found a thread that stated the bottom holes didn't line up too good. It's too bad KABAR doesn't have some cool sheath accessories. I was going to mod mine, but in all honesty I think I'm going to get the Esee 5 sheath like moosez45 has. A little pricey perhaps, but considering how cost efficient the BK2 is, I don't mind shelling out the money at all. My wife says I should just go for it and get a new sheath. Aaaaahhh, good wife. But first things first, the BK14 is in my radar at the moment. ;)

Yes the pouch fits except one bottom hole, but its secure. If you do a search on youtube BK2 sheath mod, you'll see a picture of it. It's a great addition, I now have a mini survival kit with my knife.

Wow, just one hole? I should just go ahead and get one then.

Welcome Warrior.

I too noticed the dulling issue with the sheath. I had Moosez45 make a leather sheath for my BK2. It is pretty awesome. I specifically wanted it for scout style carry.

I recently received a Spec-Ops Combat Master Knife Sheath, Short. Which is fantastic for every other type of carry option.

Sheaths are personal for most people so you will likely end up with a few for different usage scenarios.

Thanks for the welcome, appreciated. On a Spec-Ops Combat Master Knife Sheath, will a survival kit tin fit in the pocket?
