Hi Everybody,
I've been a novice knife/multi tool enthusiast for about as long as I remember. I've always loved knives, blades, etc. I have a modest collection of SA knives, multi tools, spyderco, mora and a bunch of other stuff. I can do basic maintenance but I'm rusty (no pun intended). The other day I decided that it was time to get off my butt and improve my skills and make better choices.
I'll credit Gerber with this renewed interest in doing it right.
I was at Bass Pro on black Friday. Disclaimer: I worked too many years in retail to really want to deal with Black Friday. But there was a big wheel I wanted to get for my son so I braved it - it was pretty slack. Anyways, I was up late the night before and I'm walking down the aisle and saw the Gerber Gator Machetes. My old machete needed replaced so I threw them in the cart. Got home, looked & researched them and realized there were better options. The big one's going back unopened. The little one I'll keep because I think it will be useful for kayaking. I'm a kayak fisherman and sometimes you're prowling through tight brush areas where the small saw/chopping combo could be useful. If not it was reasonably cheap and lesson learned.
So after doing some online research I found this place and here I am. I already bought a CS Kukri from one of the members shops. Looking forward to learning and participating.
