Hey guys!

I've been a lurker for a long time... I've always found great information here when I've been in the market for the inexpensive folders that I typically carry on a daily basis. Mainly CRKT and Kershaw blades.

Two weeks ago, I was visiting Scarperia for the first time on a business trip (my company's factory is located there), and was able to visit the Saladini showroom. It's a beautiful little town, and the showroom is gorgeous. Complete with a shop cat walking all over the display cases.

I ended up picking up a Gobbo Abruzzese with black buffalo horn handle. It's a lovely knife that I love to pull out and eat an apple with. It never fails to grab people's attention.

Anyway, thanks for all the indirect advice over the years, and here are a few pics of my new addition! :D

Cheers,
Chris

Welcome, and thanks for posting a very beautiful and unusual traditional folder.

Welcome Chris. Beautiful knife. You will love this place!

Thanks guys! It balances very well. I'm not a huge fan of slipjoints, but this knife may change my mind.

Glad to have you aboard Chris. I like the Gobbo Abruzzese, I especially like the rivet symbolising the castle.
cheers

Congratulations of coming of lurkerdom Chris, good to have you here  That's a great-looking knife, I'd never heard of them before. Very nice :)

Hi, and welcome!
Yes folks, you have heard of this pattern, because I did mention it somewhere here. The Gobbo (literally "hunchback" due to the curve on the spine of the handle) is one of my two favourites Italian regional patterns (excluding Sardinian traditionals of course). The blade/handle ratio is typically not one of the best out there, but the handle is comfortable.
Hope you enjoy the knife, and that it can be your door into the slipjoint world.
Consigli and Berti also produce nice versions of this pattern :)

Hi Chris, and welcome to the best forum on the 'net.

I love the knife!!! Simple yet elegant with great lines. I may have to pick up one of those, as I have a bit of a taste for Italian knives. A Saladini would go well with my Resolza and Zuava.

Slip joints are a great knife, and once you get used to them, they can be very addictive.

Welcome aboard rule556! You picked a mighty fine looking knife to venture into slip joint territory:thumbup:

Thanks everybody! I like the profile of the blade in use, and the size of the handle in my hand... The only negative is also a positive. The spring is quite strong, giving confidence while using it, but the profile of the blade along with the strong spring requires extra attention when opening and closing the knife. I didn't get a chance to go to the Consigli showroom, as it was closed when I was walking through. Maybe next time!

Cheers,
Chris
