I wanna a folding knife, Microtech Mini Socom, MOD Mark II, which one is the best choice? My hand is not big, Socom Elite and Mark I is not fit me. Or someone could offer some other good choice? Many Thanks.

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

You mean the MOD CQD Mark II? It's a very nice small knife. I have large hands but it works for me when I want something smaller than my large MOD CQD. For small hands it would be perfect. Very strong blade and lock. The handle looks peculiar but it works well for a secure grip.

I never handled the Mini Socom so I can't compare them.

There are so many more knives ... a lifetime's worth of searching! :D

You might look at some of the more elegant Spydercos, like the Persian and the Spyker.

Then there's the Darrel Ralph/Ryan Wilson RRF (Rapid Response Folder), which has a big blade but a narrow, shaped handle that should be fine for a smaller hand.

Welcome to the gang. It's always good to get some new blood in the forum or things get dull.

I'm a fan of the Mini-SoComm. Microtech makes a great knife. Construction is like a tank and materials are first class. Style makes it easy to carry.

Thanks for all of your helps. But Mini Socom and CQD MarkII,which one is stronger? I wanna a folding knife is not only for cutting, but also for chopping.(maybe is a crazy idea!) I had used Spyderco Manix, it looks beefy,4mm thick, but I don't think flat grind is a good idea, I'd rather like saber grind.

the MOD is a bit larger than the mini SOCOM, and ya want the mini SOCOM elite with the framelock, not the old liner lock mini SOCOM, my wife edc's a mini SOCOM elite and really likes it, a very good knife. if the size is ok with ya get the mini elite, if ya want something bigger get the MOD, or a std size SOCOM elite. the newer mini elite has a far better lock up system than the old mini SOCOM, and is also a little larger, the old mini SOCOMs are nice knifes, good collector knifes, but for a user the mini elite is a lot better imho, and ya can probably get the elite cheaper to boot.

MOD folders have never been a favorite of mine, not that they are bad, just none have ever really "grabbed" me.

as far as lock strength, the lock on the mini SOCOM elite would be strongest imho, followed by the MOD, followed by the mini SOCOM. i dont think any of the knives would excell at chopping, though ya could use for that i guess, i know they arent really made for chopping. i would say the manix is a more heavy duty knife than the MOD or the SOCOMs, larger, heavier, i dont know how great it would be at chopping either.

if ya want a smallish folder ~3" blade the mini SOCOM elite would be my first choice in a production knife, other than maybe a small seb.

I don't think chopping with folders is such a neat idea. In spite of all the claims a hatchet, axe. bow saw, or big fixed blade is better suited, IMHO. For most cutting uses either of these is plenty strong enough.
