Hey Everyone,
First time poster and still relatively new to knives as I've been researching for about 2 years and have made a few small purchases.
I'm mainly into knives well suited to outdoors activities as that's what I mainly use them for such as breaking down small wood, clearing brush, cleaning fish, etc, however, I can appreciate all blades.
I have a bad habit of playing the amazon cheapie gamble. Even though it's usually a bust, I really like that rare occasion when I run into an amazon cheapie that actually has value.
Below is a photo of my knives.
I've got 3 more on the way: Cold Steel Raja 2 and Raja 3, and a Genuine Gurkha Kukri.
A couple of my larger knives do OK at clearing brush, I thought I'd give the infamous Kukri a try -- we'll see how that goes, I'm afraid it may be another amazon cheapie gamble.
As for the Raja's -- I need a good folder and I've heard good things. I'm currently using a Rat 1 which I really like but the flip-out action isn't fun for me.
Current favorites:
Larger knife: The amazon cheapie kukri wannabe in the middle of the photo is my favorite large knife and it was about $10. I'm interested to see how it compares to the Genuine Gurkha Kukri and maybe even the folding Rajah 2 though I expect the Rajah 2 (even tho its big) is probably too small to compare but still hoping its a nice easier to carry folding alternative.
General purpose: Pricey but I really like the feel of my DPX Heft 6 Serrated even though it was about $180
General purpose: I should mention, a very close second favorite is the Becker BK16 for about $60. The Condor Bushlore is pretty good for the $ too.
Folder: So far I really like my Rat 1, but the open/close action is difficult and the clip comes loose after awhile, but otherwise very nice for $25. I'm interested to see how it compares to the Rajah 3.
Anyway -- I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the useful info I've gathered from this site over the last couple years.
Thanks for reading
