From time to time I have been coming on this forum and scooping out wealth of information of knives.
Its a great platform. Its high time I registered here as well, I would like to introduce myself. I am Shahroze from Pakistan.
I like collecting knives and love shotguns and firearms.
I am just in the begging phase because here in Pakistan we don't have much authentic knives available. Most are cheap Chinese and some Gerber copies are available. Victronix are available but I am not fond of them much might get on in future.
Currently I have an Ontario M9 military spec. ( I believe there are two versions, one issued to the forces and the other sold online and on stores?)
And KaBar short tanto 1252.

Now I have an opportunity to get 2 knives from American a friend is coming back and he can get me but they have to be under 4inches or 4inch max
Kindly suggest me 2 knives along the lines of kabar short tanto, Cold steel pendleton hunter, peace maker III. Prices of both should not exceed 75 dollar. Or if I can get one in that price it would also be good. All type of suggestions are welcomed. I prefer Fixed blade you might have already guessed. My ontario Rat 1 is also coming.

Regards.

Welcome to the forums!

I don't have a lot of suggestions because fixed blades aren't my thing, but you might check out the Ontario RAT-3 and the Esee Izula 2.

If you're interested in a folder, the Spyderco Endura 4 would fit your requirements and price range. It's probably not as robust as the other blades you've mentioned, but is a very popular sub 4-inch folding blade. I have the smaller version, the Delica, and it's one of my favorite knives for EDC.

I know you prefer fixed blades, but your 4-inch length requirement combined with $75 budget make that difficult for suggesting good knives. While I do like some Cold Steel knives, it seems like a waste of an opportunity to have your friend bring you knives that are actually imported *to* America such as Cold Steel.

Will you be using these knives for any specific tasks, for possible daily carry, or just for collecting purposes? If you include folding knives, you could find many that would be very nice. Would you be able to raise your price to $85? That would be enough for an Ontario XM series folder or Buck/TOPS CSAR-T folder, to name a couple of examples. Gerber has a few new US-made folders that would fit in your price range (maybe could afford two) and Kershaw has several also US-made and inexpensive. The Kershaw Camber, Knockout and Piston are very nice and under $75 from some sellers, or you might be able to get some combination of two if you got something: Link, Skyline, Scallion, Chive, Shallot and Blur models to name a few. For good steel options, the Camber is S30V, and one of the many Blur models is also available with S30V. Of course, Kershaw has some nice knives coming from China also, but I think you would be smart to get truly American knives, not just knives imported by American companies.

I am seriously looking into kershaw emerson cqc series.
I wont be using these knives at all. I can stretch my budget out as I have also bought some shotgun/ shooting accessories. I don't want to burden him more.
What do you say about the Pedleton hunter and Peace maker III?

Yes, I checked out Kershaw Emerson series are made in china, I myself don't like those which are outsourced from cheaper countries. Sort of defies the collectors logic.
He has to get the knives from Cabelas. He told me they have Kershaw and buck, will check others also.
Mora is already done.
Blue otter is beautiful but I don't think that's available at Cabelas.

Why does he "have" to get them at cabelas? Most (reputable) online retailers will ship them within a weeks time, or over night them for next day delivery for an appropriate fee... Seems he "could" have them over nighted if time was an issue.

I just sent him these names he will get two from these
hope I made a good choice. IF anyone knows something better please tell before tomorrow
ontario Rat 3
ontario rat 1
Cold steel peace maker III
Spyderco Tenacious G10

I'm interested in why you chose the Tenacious...

In all honesty I am a noob when it comes to knives.
Here as I said we have no choices only cheap Chinese stuff is available.
I chose the tenacious because its Spyderco, you can't go wrong with that and it falls in my budget.
If you know something better please share.
Regards.

I see. I was just curious and didn't know if there was something in particular you liked about it that led you in that direction.

The Tenacious is actually manufactured in China and imported to the U.S. So even though it is much better than most cheap Chinese made knives, you'd be better off spending ~$15 more and getting a Spyderco Endura. The Endura is made in Japan, but in my opinion it's superior to the Tenacious in almost every way.

No solid recommendations till now, I guess my criteria laid out must be odd or something.
Anyways I will update when I get the knives.

Staying in your budget,
These make great little handy companions.

Or one of these;

Both U.S. made Case and Buck make great Knives with their 420hc steel. Great heat treats.

Problem here I think is the cabela's thing. Not only do they have a very limited selection, but they are high priced at retail prices, so most Knives in your price range are cheap imports, and it's not until outside your budget, closer to the $100 mark that you start seeing more "high(er) quality" blades...

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Out of the ones you mentioned I chose the Alpha wolf.
Now my final list is
Alaska alpha wolf
Ontario rat 3
Ontraio rat 1
Boker Trance
Cold steel peace maker III
Kershaw Junkyard.

He will choose any two he finds.

Because I collect Knives I prefer better known companies like Kabar, ColdSteel and Ontario,
The Alaska Alpha Wolf is very new to me.
But I like it so its worth having.
Can you give a small review on the knife if you could.
In my area because we don't have any variety in knives the above mentioned knives sell like hot cakes.
Can you believe the Kabar short tanto which online normally retails around 55-70$. People snatch these like crazy for about 10,000Rupees. That's 100+ Dollars.
And we get some beat up abused badly Benchmade and coldsteel knives used by the Nato forces in Afghanistan for 10,000+Rupees. You guys wouldn't even buy them seeing their condition but to us they are Gold as bringing one here is a hassle and no one is up to the task.

Knives of Alaska

They make great knives from everything I've heard and read, though I personally haven't owned one... Definitely on my "list"... Look them up with a quick Google search and you'll see they seem to almost always get 5 star customer ratings and great reviews on nearly every knife they make.http://www.biggamehunt.net/forum/knives-alaska-who-has-them-and-who-likes-them
This particular hunting forum has a review of the alpha wolf model a few posts in, from a guy who says he used it to field dress a moose, and apparently he likes it...
