I couldn't find any new member threads or area so I'm not sure if this is the correct area.

Anyways, Long time lurker and I decided to signup and ask some questions and show my stuff

I don't have any fancy equipment. I make most of my knifes, Choppers, etc on a harbor freight 6x48 bench sander. It works alright. not ideal but it get me by. I cut out my profiles with an angle grinder. I recently picked up a floor standing drill press so now I don't have to drill all of my holes with my hand drill.

I'm am still learning and struggling with the plunge lines but I believe much of my issues is my harbor freight bench sander as it doesn't hold tracking well. but i've learned to deal with it and have gotten better.

I will post up some of my knives and choppers/machetes later

Addendum:

I have done building and equipment maintenance and repair for most of my life so I am pretty familiar with tools and machines. About 12 or so years ago I moved up to northern California. In the process I lost access to all of the tools, drill press, lethes, welding equipment, torches, grinders, etc.

I am slowly building up my inventory of tools. I don't ever see myself making knifes full time or even trying to sell them or make money on them. I do it because it is fun and I like to work with my hands and create new things. I tend to work on a few and when done I may take a break for a while until new inspiration hits me

I currently have three out at peters heat treat right now. I'll likely make a new thread for those as I want to pick your collective brains on some ideas/questions

Thanks Jason

welcome. looking forward to seeing some of your creations....

Yeah the structure of the sub forums is still new to me and it will take time to learn the layout. I've been using Google to do spacific searches and bypass the layout but with making posts I'll definitely need to learn it
