Hi everyone, i've been collecting knives for about 3 yrs with my boyfriend who most of you may know him by jay2pointoh but its not easy to learn all the terms like,ffg,s30v,frn I just like the way they look, how pretty they are but he says its more to it than that, like function, blade steel, locks, etc, etc. I know this but im a woman so I first see the beauty then how they work, but im learing. We have alot of knives but here are a few of my fav, spyderco tenaious, kulgera, leek, mini grip, delica to name a few (these are mine) so are there any women out there who are in the same boat as me if so post your story. I take my knife to work with me to use as a tool first but, if im attack going to my car then its not a tool then.

Welcome to the forums, it is always cool to see a woman that shares our sick obsession with knives. Enjoy the addiction

Welcome to Bladeforums! My fiancee isn't a registered member so obviously she doesn't post, but she has found a love for knives since we've been together and she now has a nice little collection of her own, mostly small blades. She has a few different Spyderco Ladybugs in different colors, a Spyderco Jester, Spyderco Dragonfly, Spyderco Delica, Bladetech Mouse, Kershaw Chive, and her newest is a Pink Strider PT that she keeps in her purse. She loves that she doesn't have to ask me to cut things open for her anymore and when she is around her office buddies and they need something opened she's always quick to pull out a sharp knife. She likes the knives and she likes learning everything I can teach her. She is really eager to learn. It makes me so proud.

welcome to the forum, we all had to start somewhere. personally i champion your self defense attitude. my motto is stick em & kick em.--dennis

. . . I first see the beauty then how they work . . . so are there any women out there who are in the same boat as me. . . .

Sometimes, how a knife works is its beauty. And, yes, there are plenty of knife lovers of the feminine variety here on BF. Hopefully some of them will chime in. My girlfriend carries blades too (BM555HG and ESEE Izula), but she doesn't post here . . . yet.

In any case, Welcome!

Welcome to the forum :)

As for the whole defense thing, I don't care how much you train. As long as I am alert and you aren't Superman my blow will find its mark or close to it. It isn't as easy as some martial arts enthusists like to make it seem to stop someone with a knife.

Just remember your local laws and not to use excessive force. Slash first if they don't have a weapon (other than their fists) and try not to get into the situation in the first place.

Welcome, Taylor. There are a lot of good people here. And then there are the rest of them. It's not hard to figure out which is which, as you've already seen. Hope you enjoy your time here and learn a lot.

My fiancee spotted my new Izula when she got back from a 3-week trip Monday - her reaction: "it's so cool!". She carries a chive.

Indeed, Welcome to Blade Forums. I am slowly getting my wife more interested in knives. She has a small buck on her keyring and she carries a couple of SAKs.

The more involved she is, the easier it is to get her blessing on my next knife purchase :D

I'm a female and started out by just liking there looks but then I came here and I've taken a whole new oulook on them. Welcome and plan to stick around for a while!

Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome. I will do my best to take in all of the info.

By the way this is me
