So ok.... I gave up, could not get a home made wood handle that I like ( tried two times) so finally I gave in and ordered micarta scales.... and here she is with the scales

Great setup, I likes me some BK2 pics. How do you like that Oak handled LMF. I have a ton of steels, but I could always use more.

You like the micarta handles? Have you done some work with them yet? Let me know.

yes the peg is to improve on retention since sometimes i use it on the back it allows me to have peace of mind knowing that even if I jump the knife will not fall off. Idid it with some bungee cord and a teak wook peg.

Moose, yes i do dig the micarta handles, they are very confortable. although i did sanded them a little and applied mineral oil.

the firesteel i used a roll toilet paper over the firesteel then wrapped it with electrical tape and attached it to the sheath using those..plastic Zips....simple however functional

i have gone camping with my wife and kids a couple of times....in fact the reason I stripped the blade was because the original coating was getting all scratched...so decided to strip it.

originally I had it with the original scales and paracord although it was too thick, so I switched to only some inner tube and made some scales.....although as i said ......not a great success...

hence.....micarta ....not that I do not like the, but it just gives me more pleasure making them on my own.

I did sanded a bit the micarta and applied some mineral oil to give some shine to it. honestly I believe the grivory scales are a little more confortable....or at least have a better fit on the knife....however the micarta´s looks and grip are great.....bottom line I feel the upgrade to micarta is mostly looks......and they do look great!!!
