Well, I was on dave's knife world and saw this item for pre-order. I was wondering if anyone had any info on it. I tried to register at microholics, but it wouldn't let me. Thanks

Whatever it is, it looks cool. I thought Microtech had stopped making knives, and was into making guns only now. Mebbe they've had a change of heart.

common misconception...microtech never said that they were permanetly not making knives, but that they wanted to get into guns also...early 09' they should be back into knife production 100%...they've already made a few this year

I've owned a couple of these, both M/A and an Auto. Auto sucked big time but the m/a's were very excellent. The handle scales if I remember needed a bit of attention as they would bite into my hand but all in all a really great knife. I also had the CMTX3 I believe it is and that was my grail knife until I got it. Just didn't fit my hand and was totally bummed about that. Just to short. Goof knife though and loved the blade shape. If you can find one they are a bit pricey but like the 5 better than the Lightfoot models I have owned too. keepem sharp

That's a good thing. I think the market for high-quality Steyr AUG clones may be about to dry up. Too bad- the Microtech guns are uber cool.

This model is not new. I would have to guess that the web site needs to be updated. There is a possibility that the CMTX5 will be in production again for '09 but so far, the latest MT's have been assembled with Torx screws and not MT's propriotory screws. Also, D2 has been the mainstay steel of late at Microtech, not $30V as the pic shows. Microtech rarely updat
es their site but they do put out a decent catalog. www.microtechknives.com

No, it's not new...they're supposed be producing them sometime within the 1st quarter of 09'...microtech has made knives though with their special screws though- makora II and they just did a red handled UT8...as far as blade steel that's up in the air...whether it's S30V or D2 I have no idea...either one is fantastic and a stonewashed blade is mighty attractive to me...hopefully within a few months they'll be available
