Well, I'm probably just missing another topic here, but I'm wondering: what's the story with a microtech forum?

I sure enjoyed the dialog between MT enthusiasts, and it motived me to purchase my first two MT's - and I'm really happy I did. They're great knives.

And, I know that I'd like to have access to some of the great posts that were at knifeforums - like care and feeding of MT's, and the recent MT price 'reports'.

Is there any plan to get a new forum going soon? If not, I certainly would be happy to maintain an MT 'info site', including the items above, and anything else of general interest to the collector community.

I don't have the capacity to do UBB-type forums, and probably shouldn't try - the folks here at bladeforums (and others) do it well. But, perhaps a collection of useful reference information that won't disappear during periods of 'excitement' at the different forums might be worthwhile?

If anyone thinks this is a good idea, let me know. If there's enough interest, perhaps we could even pick up a domain name.

I would also like to see the MT forum listed here. This was one of the reasons I would check the other forum! Question should not be IF, it should be WHEN!!

See the thread "tacticalforums.com" in this Forum for information on the MT Forum status - last info has it waiting for an OK.

Current MT "price lists" are in the Automatic Knives Forum, probably have to go back a week or so. Valmet posted them.

See ya,

Nick

A lot of people have been chiming in with support for the concept and for Ty to moderate, myself included.

I think it'll happen, Mike and Spark are in favor. MT is pondering it now. They'd be crazy not to.

Thanks to chetchat for the pointers - glad to see that information's still available somewhere!

Now, not to be combative here, but just curious about 'forum politics': why on earth do collectors need permission from MT to run an independent discussion about their products?

If I remember correctly, the excellent moderator at knifeforums wasn't even affiliated with MT, and yet the forum managed very nicely (IMHO).

And I know that I sure didn't see any Nemesis giveaways from the factory!

Is getting permission from MT just to be friendly, or is there some deeper issue?

Thanks,

-Bill

Personally, I can't wait. I need my MT...F. However, I will be very disappointed if it does not include the "Dynamic Duo" of Ty and Sean. Other than Frogman, these 2 know more about what's going on in the MT world than anyone out side of Vero Beach.

The sooner, the better!

Bill,

I think this is going to be "The Official Microtech Forum". Other than that I try to stay out of politics. "I'm a (insert party affiliation here), I feel very strongly both ways."

Hi Bill, don't worry

Valmet, the truth is I knew Ty in personal EMail while peripherally involved in some of the various issues that came up. He always came across as a straight shooter. I never so much as stepped foot in the MT forum simply because no current MT models are of any interest to me...so until the MT forum subject came up here I'd never heard of you.

(shrug) Oh well. You seem to have a sense of humor (major plus

) and you seem to know MTs. Good enough for me!

If MT comes out with a 6" manual using the same variant of the linerlock using a heavy monolithic bar as the Kestrel, I'll get one HELL of a lot more interested in MT. In a hurry...at damn near any price short of "ohmyGOD". As is, I don't buy 4" defensive knives, not with Calif's "unlimited folder laws".

I *love* my serial number 1 Sifu!
