Man, that CQI has really changed the knife. It looks way different than I thought it would.

It's my own fault for not going to a certified dealer right off the bat but luckily it'll be easily returned and then I will repurchase one from one of the Spyderco dealers. People who do things like this suck.

Weak! Sorry about your luck, I'm pretty careful about who I buy Spydies from these days due to the fakes and garbage like that. :thumbdn:

Hey someone posted their dream spyderco was a back lock millie, sell it to em! :p

$160, a large well known website. Amazing that they don't open and inspect returned packages but maybe they have too much to do to do that. The sticker was stuck on over the Endura 4 sticker (badly). I peeled it off wondering why and saw the Endura 4 sticker. Opened it and sure enough it was an Endura.

It appears someone bought an Endura 4 and a Military, then after receiving them they placed the Military sticker onto the Endura 4 and returned it. So they got a Military for ~$70 by being a lying cheating waste of space.

Chalet,

Appreciated your taking the time to reply ...
Sounds like you don't expect any issues regarding resolution with seller, good to hear.
Sucks because of the time & disappointment on your part :-(

Looks like the seller re-stickers with different product code stickers (B vs C code for Spyderco folders). Wonder if this is a common problem for them. Seems it would be somewhat easy for them to track back buyers would purchased same items in last 30-days. Could possibly be honest mistake with incoming inventory control when they stickered that box.

Good luck with exchange, be sure to let us know if any issues on exchange for correct Millie (Black DLC on Camo G10 is a schweet combo).

OUCH!!!
A large and well known web site??? You don't want to name them?
If they make your return painless, please let us know.
You chose an excellent combination on the Millie!!
An outstanding knife!
Joe

Yeah I think that is the worst part is the disappointment. I hope there won't be any issues with the returns, it's pretty clear what happened. It wouldn't also be very hard for them probably to look for a customer who bought an Endura and Military together and returned the Military...who knows whether they follow up on that stuff or not. I hope they do so this doesn't happen to anyone else. I didn't buy it from a knife retailer, I got it from a large online based company named after a river, I thought we couldn't mention the name if they aren't a supporting member of Bladeforums but I could be wrong.

There's a local place that doesn't stock them but apparently can get them in a couple of days. I originally thought it would take several weeks but today I spoke with them and it'll be only a couple of days.

This is the reason I only buy from reputable official deals (read no A--z-n). Lesson learned, I guess.

Two things that you should never purchase from anyone but a reputable authorized dealer, Rolex Watches & Spyderco Knives.

Lesson definitely learned. It was a nice Endura though. I'd never handled a saber ground one. Felt good.

That's a bad choice to buy from ... With such an easy return policy, and no enthusiast oversite, very easy for sh*t-bags to by-trade-box-return. Bad item goes right back into inventory and shipped to another unsuspecting buyer.

I have friends that started into their knife buying using this Co., and it took a while for them to learn that it may be better for them to spend a bit more (time or money) and buy from a retailer more vested into the knife industry (more specialized). Buying local, where you can inspect is always best option (I understand not possible for many).

Do you know about the recent changes to the Military model ( CQI - Spyder Continuing Quality Improvement), and do you want the recent changes on your knife or the previous version. Both options are most likely in various distributor inventories.

Knowing about the changes, and determine which version you want will help to make sure you will be most happy long term.

That's good to know, thank you! I didn't realize there were actual CQI changes to the military. I'll have to look them up. Although now I see there's the bladehq version maybe coming out some time so if that's happening I might wait for that.

Let us know how it works out!

I would say check out the updates, you may wish to get one of the earlier versions ... as they are a known item (much history related to the performance).

Changes I am aware of (I think):
  • Thru pin for the blade stop pin (eliminated the screws and now liners and G10 are only thing securing)
  • Larger handle screws (think the size of the PM2). I like the looks of the smaller screws personally, but hard to argue with beefing things up.
  • Pillar Construction- so eliminated the back-spacer (again could be controversial that back-spacer obviously stronger and protect the blade to some degree).
  • I believe the elimination of the blade stop screws was most likely to minimize how tightening and/or loosening them could/would affect the action (but then again, I've never really had much issue here).
  • I have not been able to determine if anything related to lock-geometry has changed. I think the pocket-clip may also be a little different (probably a bit more slender I am guessing).

It is unclear to me if these changes will be, or have been made to all models (including the base models i.e. non-Sprints and/or Limited's). I believe that as Spyderco moves through existing inventory, it would make sense that they would result in one series of tooling. All the CQI changes I am aware of are related to the handles, liners, screws, blade pivot.

With regard to new "versions" coming out - OMG, there's actually quite a few both Sprints and Limited's (blade steel options and handle scales).
Realistically, nothing significant from a user perspective unless you have a particular itch (like a special steel or handle color).
Camo w/ Black DLC on a s30v blade is pretty hard to improve on from a usage perspective ;-)
