I just received my Military and I have to say it is my favorite. The S30V blade slices even better than my Ayoob or 806D2 AFCK (not that they're slouches or anything ;) ). I think the flat grind, the weight of the blade and the wicked sharpening it got when it left the factory contributes to this. The handle fills my hand nicely and I really like the generous space between the handle for easy cleaning. Definately is going to be a great "working" EDC...........

One little problem though. When I open the blade it does rub against the G-10 handle as it comes out. It makes a "scratching" sound as it rubs against the inside of the handle. In its closed postion its obvious the blade isn't centered in the handle. It doesn't rub against the handle when I close it, although it will if I apply enough force. Anyways, I guess I could send it back to Spyderco but I don't want to part with it if I don't have to. Its kind of annoying but I guess I can live with it as long as it doesn't harm the edge. What do you think?

I would send it in to Spyderco and use the AFCK while I was waiting for it back. The blade not being centered should be covered by waranty. It's not a major problem, but anything that bugs you should be fixed.

I have one of the older Militarys in CPM440V...I don't have any blade alignment problems...send it back if it bothers you...try tightening the pivot screw first...

Well, I've decided to send it back to Spyderco with a note explaining the problem. Is it okay to send a knife back without first talking to anyone?

Ok gotta ask sharkman. Where did you get the pic for the avatar? Would be a great desktop. Thanks

I picked it up at one of the avatar websites...I honestly forgot which. just right click on it and play with it to your hearts content:D

Ian, you're correct when you think of the Military as a "working EDC". I carry my SE Millie for work, and CE for non-work EDC, and they've never let me down.

As far as you sending your Military back to Spyderco, you can call Mike at Warranty and Repair(800-525-7770) and explain your concerns. I'm sure that you will be well taken care of. ;)

Good Luck
