I got a package in the mail today from Mr. Ryan Grizzle. Inside...

Needless to say, I'm blown away.
The Knife: The Mini Appalachia lives up to it's name. This thing is small, but allows a nice 3 finger hold (and maybe a little pinky depending on the grip). My sample set is small, only 2 JK's, but it lives up to the quaility of materials and execution that I expected and hoped for. The maple burl scales are beautiful. My photos don't capture the depth of the wood's grain. I think this would make a very fine EDC knife. And I envision it performing wonderfully as a skinning/gutting knife during deer season.
The Sheath: I had expresses an interest in having a horizontal belt sheath made for this knife. Communication with Mr. Grizzle was excellent during and throughout the ordering process and I think he must have read my mind (or much more likely he's simply an expert at what he does and knew what I "needed"). Either way the sheath is exaclty what I wanted and is a work of art in it's own rite.
Thank you, Mr. K and Mr. Grizzle. I couldn't be more pleased with either the knife or the sheath. And the combination is surely greater than the sum of it's parts.
