Any info on the redesigned Mnandi?

Hi Chris,

I'm fairly certain you are actually talking about the Umfaan. If that is the case I haven't heard anything. The question has been posed several times on this forum but no answers have come from CRK or anyone else. Now, if you are talking about the Mnandi all I have to say is quit holding out and give us the info!!!! I know where to find you if you hold out on us!! :p :p :D ;)

Sorry folks, Trane is right, it was the Umfaan that I was thinking about that is being redesigned.

Wood, S30V, titanium framelock, not too dainty... dang it I need a small Sebenza woodie (not classic) but can't afford the bloody things.

Suppose it was Freudian/wishful thinking.

Chris

I asked CRK about the redesigned Umfaan a few weeks ago, and the e-mail response I got was that it was pretty much on the back burner (until sometime in 2005) while they tried to keep pace with current demand for all the other CRK knives.

So it is still in the works? Well at least that's something. I can wait until 2005 (I think I can, at least I tell myself I can  ). I wonder what part of '05. Knowing my luck the debut date will be 12-31-05. :(

I talked to Chris at the Solvang knife show and he indicated that they were swamped with orders. They're so busy filling orders that it doesn't leave time to design another knife. I'm glad that they are busy because that means that they will be around for a while. IMO I don't think that the new Umfaan will be around for a while. I think 2005 is optimistic. I'm glad I was able to pick up a Umfaan (left-handed) while they had them at Plaza Cutlery in Costa Mesa. I should have bought the 2 that they had left but I only bought one. But on the bright side, I have a large left hand Giraffe bone limited edition inlay (2004) due in a couple months and Chris agreed to make me a 2005 large left hand bark mammoth ivory one that I will get whenever they can get to it, probably middle to late 2005. :) ;) :p
