New Mnandi!

Last February I placed an order with CRK for an innercut mammoth ivory Mnandi with a Devin Thomas ladder Damascus blade. At that time I strongly debated ordering mammoth bark ivory, but with the incredible variations in appearance, I didn't want to take the risk of having something show up that I didn't like. I figured with the inner cut there was going to be less variation and therefore less chance of being disappointed. However, over the last year I have spoken with CRK on numerous occasions and couldn't quite seem to find the inner cut sample I wanted. I was hoping for mostly cream but all they had was cream with brown spots. Rather then purchasing something I didn't really like I waited... and I'm glad I did! Today I came across this beauty and couldn't resist. It has absolutely everything I was looking for in an ivory inlay and has amazing character.

Sorry but I don't know how to post the pictures themselves so here is the link to the knife

Now all I have to do is send it in to CRK to have a Damascus blade fitted and it will be my all-time Grail knife. I am aware that adding a Damascus blade means that the card and knife won't match but that doesn't bother me. I plan on having this knife the rest of my life and passing it on to my children. I would like to give a big thanks to true North Knives for their great customer service and CRK for making such amazing knives

Your Kidding. I was about to buy thAt knife and have it fitted for a damascus blade.

Really?! Well i'm sorry to say I just snapped it up with the same intentions. Great minds think alike eh? :D

Just out of curiosity, what type of Damascus were you thinking of?

Congrats, beautiful knife..I have seen some online. When you can, post some pics!

I also purchased one of the mnandi's that TNK put on there website Sunday. Neil the owner called me today to work out some details on shipping the knife to me and told me that some of those listed were old inventory from his store that were misplaced. Chris Reeve offers very few mammoth barks if any the last couple of years. It was nice that Neil gave me a call today. Great service from TNK

Thanks Jos,

I must admit, I can't stop looking at the pic. I'm really hoping that it will be waiting for me at home when I get off work. The anticipiation is killing me.

So it was YOU that got that one, huh!

Good snag - nice looking mnandi. Makes my snakewood mnandi look like the ugly stepsister.

It must be my birthday!

I picked up the mnandi from UPS today on the way to work and I must say it's even more beautiful in person. As mentioned earlier, it was definitely a case of misplaced inventory as it's birth date is July 7, 2009 and it is brand new. I've never held a mnandi before and was initially a little shocked at how light and delicate it felt compared to my small micarta sebenza 21. However after sitting here admiring it at my desk for the past 2 hours (at work :D) I am in love. Such amazing precision and attention to detail. First rate through and through.

To top it all off, I received a call from Charmaine this morning letting me know that my Ladder Damascus blade is ready. I won't even have time to take pictures as this knife is going right back in the mail to CRK.

Will post pics when it arrives!

April of 2010. At that time it was actually for an innercut ivory mnandi with ladder Damascus. However, after acquiring this beauty, I ammended my order on Tuesay to just a damascus blade and got the call today. Apparently they had just drafted the work order for my previous mnandi they day I bought this one haha :D
