Living in the vast wastelands of central PA, my knife fondling oppotunities are often limited. I might be making it to a decent sized gun show this weekend, what are the chances that new spydies would be available to handle?

I'm mostly wondering about the Centofante 4, drop point D'Allara, Kumo, and Polliwog? (Since I might actually buy those. :D )

I've seen some pretty good Spyderco displays at shows in York and Lancaster PA. Mostly Enduras, Delicas, Natives, Salts etc, but I saw a couple Manix and other higher end Spydies. All for an arm and a leg, it would be cheaper to handle the ones you wanted and just buy them on here from other collectors. Which show are you going to?

Going (maybe) to Harrisburg - I'm in Centre County, York and Lancaster would be quite a trip just to paw through a store.

I went to a small show last weekend. I found the Kumo, but no one had the IV, D'Allara or the Poliwog. Bigger shows should have better selections. I wanted a IV, but none at the show.

Thanks, Blades! I *REALLY* want to see a DP D'Allara - this is Spyderco's best shot at a direct competitor to the Grip, IMHO. I'm especially interested in finding out if the theoretically interesting ball lock has been made user friendly for my fat paws yet. :)

Hey Nick... you will like the D'Allara, and the ball lock is rock solid... I picked up a SE a month or so ago.... Knife is also very flickable....

Woody, the lock up was solid on the first D'Allara - getting it unlocked, that was where the skin met the ball bearing. :)

Nick, I have a couple of the WTC knives and I need to put on rubber gloves to close them. Same with my buddie's Dodos. Just can't get a grip on the ball otherwise.

The "good news" is, I can close the new D'Allara Drop Points bare handed without any problems, even when my hand is wet. Have not tried closing one with a greasy or soapy hand yet. The D'Allara Drop Point certainly represent a big improvement over the earlier ball locks, but I still find a front lock considerably easier to close one handed.

Hey Nick.. Like Paul mentioned, the new D'Allara Drop Point will close one handed... Matter of fact I am packing mine today and was just showing it to a co worker.... Smooth as silk....

... I personally use my thumb nail to move the ball... I have a hard time to move the ball when using thumb and forefinger to try and grip the ball... Hope this makes sense......
