The new Prototypes were developed w/ certain price points in mind. Andy reverse engineered our current models to obtain methods to achieve the lower price points.

The current price schedule is as follows.

$150 base

Mid-Sized
$170

Larger Size

Nice, I think I'm going to need one of the mid sized ones with a wooden or wrapped handle later :)

Lower price points with the new design(s) is good to see.

Both the large and mid sized samples look like good general working/utility designs... In a way they brought to mind for me the classic Stanley 99e utility knife but with a longer fixed blade.

I like that Andy is always finding ways to offer knives at more affordable price points ... shows character and good business acumen

Blades made to work (not that the others aren't). I've talked to several people lately who describe how they're "afraid to ruin their $300+ knives, so they don't use them and just let them sit. To each his own, but this kind of thing should encourage use for sure. They look great, too. I like straightforward/no frills cutters just as much as the fancy ones.

This intrigues me. Are you free to share where or how this was accomplished?

Secret of the trade. But it was done in reverse, and possibly upside down.

I'd say it happened there at the shop, figuring out the various material costs, and which steps that weren't really necessary to make a more utilitarian type knife that ate up the most time. Pretty straight forward process, reduce the costs to produce the knives to lower pricing, without sacrificing the overall quality and durability of the tool.

Pretty much

the time savings during the handle shaping alone cut around 10mins per knife iirc
