I got a chance to see the new collaboration of Spyderco and JD Smith today.

Very ergonomic design, fits well in the hand, and has a nice belly in the blade. The only thing I think would make the knife better is the use of CPM440V instead of the current ATS34.
Overall,it is a nice knife and it should be a nice performer.

I also turned J.D. onto BladeForums and hopefully he will join in on the fun.

Also his custom work is fantastic, especially his filework and his damascus.

P.S.-J.D., if you had #225, I definitely would have taken it.

Nakano,

Sorry buddy, but I don't have any pictures and it wouln't be exact if I tried to describe it, so I won't.

My opinion though is that it will be a winner.

BTW, MSRP is $146, so you can figure out pricing from there.

Nakano,

Take a look <a href="http://www.spyderco.com/knife/cat_cc58.html">here</a>. Pretty nice, eh?

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

Thanks Clay. Seems similar to the Goddard LW but with an ample finger choil. A plus IMO. Ah, but a broader blade Sal, a broader blade! Guess I' ll sit and wait for a pic of the Keating Chinook.

I've been carrying my Viele for the last few days and have enjoyed the feel of the micarta scales coupled with the heft of the stainless liners. Got me thinking that the J. D. Smith would be a nice knife for daily carry. Does anyone know when they are likely to appear in the stores?

J.D. is from my neck of the woods and he does some fantastic work.He can usually be found at the various N.C.C.A shows. Would be nice if he joined the forums.

I saw the picture for the new C-58 and it looks wonderful. It also seems to be a good quality knife, of course that's expected from spyderco. I'm wondering if it is for sale yet?

How thick is the blade? It's hard to tell from the picture, but how strong is the tip?

I was in Ironsto/ I mean the new Spyderco factory outlet store today, they had the new J.D.Smith in both blade styles- $95 +-.They were busy, I didn't have time to wait to handle one, I'll be by there again next week. If it's as good as it looks, this is my next Spyderco.
