Last nights has been quite sleepless for me so I've had some extra time to think about couple of knife-related things. So I thought... why not a modular kydex sheath? And here we are first version of my "Aurgia" kydex system (named just for fun after lab-spaceship in Alien Resurrection movie). This one consists of sheath, TekLok, belt-loop, tie-down cord, attachment plate and 4" nylon sheath. However, I have more modules in mind... for small brunton compass, firestarter, dog-bone sharpener, Zippo lighter, etc. Also I'll try some "double duty" modules. So you can easily compose best sheath for planned activity. But that's the future. Anyway, I've started with sheaths for Project I and MK.VI, and it turned out not so bad. The outer pocket keeps easily a SAK, multitool or SureFire E2, G2 or 6P. Tell me what do you think?

That is a fantastic idea, and I hope that you have it protected :(

Bound to be a success with the ability to have a multitool / sak close to the knife. I like it :D

Well done, sir :)

Great looking work per usual Piter. Might need to get one of those sent to the US ;)

Thanks for so positive reaction :)

BTW, I believe that knife community (especially custom makers, both knife & sheath) is a honorable one, so the maker doesn't have to be so much affraid of a copy. Also I have no clue how it goes in US, but in EU a registered maker has 3-year protection (time-to-register) for the design if that has been exhibited, published, shown to audience etc. Anyway, making kydex is so far more a fun and hobby for me than job and I'd like to keep it that way. That allows me to play with it and that leads to some nice results. More to come :D

Very interesting concept. I hope it works out for you. I love to see people inventing new things!

The Project I sheath looks great with the additional features. I can't wait until that one gets here. Thanks Piter. :D

I had the honor of meeting Piter at the Blade Show this year and not only was I impressed with his work I was also impressed with how nice of a guy he is. Expect my order soon! Great work! :D

Piter,

Your kydex work always impresses me and this is a neat idea. Depending on what you put in the module, the load gets kind of heavy. However, I really like the concept. Well done.

Well done sir!

I received the Mk VI "Auriga" sheath the other day...the same one pictured above. It is an amazing piece of kydex for sure! The knife is held very very very securely, and is released fairly easily. Piter's work is very upscale...probably the nicest kydex I own. The only sheaths that compare would be Dozier's, but Piter's are much more versatile. I opted for the Maxpedition attachment, and a belt loop as well as a tek-lok. Modularity is an understatement.

If anyone needs a custom sheath for their CRKs, Piter is the man for the job!
:)

do you make thoses sheaths also?

And what about compact version for Shadow III... in OD-Green kydex? Turned out not bad at all
