Hi, since i got my winter hay supply hauled I had time to build a leather sheath for my Mofo.

I put together a quick kydex sheath a couple of days ago and wasn't satisfied with it, the Mofo just needed a nicer sheath.

So this morning it was leather work time. The edges aren't finished yet, busted the belt on my sander.

Cricket Dave and his handy dandy ezlap...outstanding. You introduced me to the utility of those sharpeners, thanks!

After you feed your cattle that hi-grade hay, do you massage them too <like Kobe beef> to produce such fine leather sheaths? One stop shopping! :p

Thanks guys, thats horse feed for the winter, I don't have any cows right now. I'll get a calf next spring to feed up for the year. Don't have to massage them if you feed them up right, tender tender meat.

The sheath took me about a hour to put together. Those EZlap's are handy field sharpeners, you don't get a refined polished edge but it will sure cut.

I need to get myself some leather and start trying to do my own leather sheathes. That looks gorgeous!
How is the retention on that strap on the spine like that? Better that side than the edge side, though. I HATE sheathes that have a retention strap that crosses over the edge side; they tend to not last long if the edge is properly sharpened.

With the snugness of the sheath added to the strap it holds tight, not going to fall out. with the angle I did the strap at it holds pretty tight by itself. I hate the ones across the edge side of the blade too they always get cut.

Very nice work. Looks great.

I hear you on hauling hay for the winter. We just finished up getting the last 120 rounds bales moved. 23 head goes through the stuff pretty quick.
