I've not seen anyone mention this new offering from Mora yet...

Just wondering if any of you guys have seen or picked one up?

I got a couple in the post last week but my camera seems to have picked up an issue (I have a horrible feeling it got 'damp').
They are the same blade shape as their 'Wood Carving 106' but with the handle of the much loved 510.

Rumour has it there are more releases on the way, including a wood carving set??

I noticed that. Hopefully those rumors are true and there'll be some more models with that handle type in the near future.

I love the shape of the wooden handle on the 106 for wood carving. It fills my hand so nicely
The black handle would be great for outdoors, would it work for carving?
The 106 is laminated, what will the plain carbon be like?
A thin blade like that for outdoors, does it have enough meat on it to be robust enough?

I get what you are saying neeman. Personally I love neutral handles, however, as with the Mora Classic, I find the barrel handle a bit too small and it can sometimes have a tendency to rotate in my hand, despite its ovoid profile. This Basic Wood Carving knife has a much more positive feel to it....imho.

The plain carbon blades are just fine....however it wasn't quite as keen fresh from Östnor as Mora's laminated blades are. This is nto to say it was blunt mind...but their laminated blades are amazingly sharp.

As for the robustness.....well I'm sure I can put that to the test somehow ;)

I've got a couple of these and love them. Really good EDC knife. I'm a big fan of the 511 and the similarities between the handles of these two knives are a big plus.

I'm working on making a minimalist kydex sheath for this blade. I'll try to get some pics up in the next few days.
