Not as pretty as some of the others posted here, but very useful. I have a few that look alot better, but none that can take a beating like this one.
It is a Chris Reeve Mountaineer II 5.5 inch blade A2 steel, with a gun kote finish. It has a hollow handle for some fire starting materials. I like knives that are pretty, but I also like knives that are useful.

I think it is a beautiful knife. Simple and functional has its own kind of beauty!:D

Btw, welcome to BF!

Very beautiful knife:thumbup:! I've been thinking of getting one like this too. BTW, welcome to the Bladeforums.

Yeah, I have one of those. It's excellent. My only regret is that I don't get a chance to use it often enough.

Pretty is in the eye of the beholder. I have one and think it looks great....Excellent knife, as is every one of Chris' knives I've ever seen/held.

To me the beauty is in the integral construction. Think about machining that from a single block of tool steel. It is high art in the craft of machining.

I really looked hard at purchasing one of the Chris Reeves' one piece knives, but I am concerned that the RH is 55. At least that is what I read.

I have never owned thus far any knife made by Chris Reeve (I guess I have been pretty busy getting goodies from the Wauseon factory) so i couldn't tell. I do understand your concern though. If you have the time you can read a review done by Cliff Stamp on another knife from the One Piece series: the Project I. It can be found here: http://www.cutleryscience.com/reviews/project_I.html.

I'm new here but happy to he here too.
I have the 4" of this and love it. I live just down the road from Chris and Ann's shop and see them from time to time. He made me a Shaddow III with the handle of the mountaineer... Special run of 20 of them. I love it even more than the mountaineer due to the spear point.

But, none the less... You have a great knife.

my sole CRK one-piece is the Mountaineer I. i haven't used it much yet since it's a recent purchase, but i think it's awesome-looking to say the least. these one-pieces are beautiful imo
