Those are nice MDP. Thanks for posting them. A question though - Are the grips textured (like regular G-10 on the Military) or smooth? The image does not reveal the ultimate texture end of them.
I'm awaiting the Hector Castro stuff, I saw his work on the Spyderco forums and was blown away with the Orange G-10 w/ Black liners, simply beautiful. The grey ones in the image above are screaming "Take me Home!".

You are welcome, thank you!

Smooth.

Hector does nice work, I promised him I would review them by now, but events conspired against me, and I am not known as a great budgeter of time.....

I just put a set of the new larger green ones on my CPM-M4. They do fit closer to the edge of the tang than the smaller ones. My knife does still protrude a small fraction on the top of the handle. Not "custom" but not a problem either. They are very, very nice and a great deal. Highly recommended for anyone who is just looking to use a Mule - AOT a show piece.

I did order some yesterday I did not know they were smooth. Fortunately texture is not a deal breaker for me.

But I was under the impression they are G10. Am I correct ?

I like them, not more than the first run, but I like them.

Are those G10 or regular plastic ?

G-10.

They arrived today pink full sized (option 3) Orange full sized and earth slightly undersized (option 1) They cost me $20 each plus $5 for every set of barrel bolts and screws to accompany each grip set ($25 per knife.)

They are not textured but they are not as shiny (mine weren't) as the ones pictured here which is what I prefer. Oddly the insides have some light texturing. The fit of the barrel bolts were tight on my ZDP189 mule they would only insert from one side and I had to tap them through into position not a big problem. The fit on the other two mules was perfect they just slid right through with no hitches and no play.

I don't find much of a contrast visually between the larger and small grips (the larger ones do leave some of the tang edges exposed too) but I sure can feel the difference when gripping.

They also come in grey, black, and some sort of OD green type of color (I think)

For people that like to shape their own grips they also sell them with squared off edges, more block shaped (option 2 ?)

They are not masterpieces of fit and finish but they still look good and I love them.

I now have a pink handled ZDP189, an orange handled S90V, and an undersized earth (grey brown) handled S35VN.

I am thankful to Halpern Titanium for offering these grips and plan to buy some more.

Hve they made any that are compatible with the 52100 Mule?

I don't know but they do sell knife making parts (barrel bolts and screws.)

Maybe the problem could be solved with a different sized barrel bolt and screw setup. One idea I can think of is greasing the bolts and using high strength epoxy to fill in any gaps. The pre drilled wider diameter holes in the grips come to mind when I think of this. I have not tried this and maybe will risk a permanent set (perhaps I will for mine.) The Mule also has other holes in the tang not used by the bolts putting some epoxy in two of those areas and screwing the grips tight (aids in setting and curing) will probably work to create a strong bond while tight and hopefully will not be too hard to pry off if screws are removed for disassembly.

Maybe the difference would be so negligible that tightening down the screws would be sufficient. If you choose to TOTALY epoxy the slabs to the tang before bolting like a lot of knife makers then I don't see it as a problem. I personally prefer grips that I can remove.

I have not heard of the 52100 problem being addressed so you might have to find another source or do some improvising like above.

What is the size of the 52100 Mule's smaller holes ? That would be a must know before determining the barrel bolt setup to get for it.

Not sure... I'd have to dig around in the archives to find out. All I know is that Spyderco adjusted some of the holes to a wider diameter in the subsequent Mules. Which holes I'm not sure of.

I may just epoxy a pair of scales on and not fiddle around with finding a compatible barrel bolt/screw. Those gray G-10 scales sure are nice, though :)

I just wrote a short bit about hole sizes and that sort of thing, inspired by this thread, and others like it...

And, I would love it if you would read my bit, and tell me if I can communicate it any better.

I think that's perfectly clear. I wouldn't hold out any hope at all that anyone's likely to go ahead and offer a COTS solution. The problem is the hardware. I looked high and low and never found anything, so I mod'ed the knife. That, however, is another story. Folks who think they can use a $1.95 Dremel bit are optimists. :thumbdn: You need something like the KK.com carbide spade bit. The MT01 is very hard.
