New Multi-Use Pack??

I use a CamelBak MULE for most of my hiking and such. I like the size of the pack and am looking for something similar in size/construction for a general use pack. I am using my MULE for general purpose when at work since I do not need the bladder, but I would like to have one dedicated to that end instead of constantly having to swap gear. Any suggestions? Should I just buy another MULE and have a spare bladder?

Thanks

Do you have the military MULE or civilian? Good thread as I'm considering the military MULE for day long hiking trips. I have a Mountainsmith Day pack now.

Since the MULE works, getting another one for just your 'civilian' use makes good common sense. If you have the original military MULE, their '500' line might be a good idea.

On the other hand, if you want to add some flavor to your pack rotation... this Osprey seems a good choice (specs wise).

I use the military. If you do a quick search, I posted mine loaded in the W&SS forum a while back. I am going to do another load-out on it soon.

doug,

Do you happen to have a link to that thread? The search function doesn't work for me.

What do you think of the Osprey?

Thanks.

Also, which Osprey are you talking about?

Thanks for the link. By the way, how much of the space in the two compartments is taken away when you fill the bladder up?

I posted a link to Osprey's Talon 5.5 in my original reply. It doesn't show? There are also a few other packs on Osprey's site that might work for you.

I really like having MOLLE or PALS webbing to attach stuff. I guess I may end up having to shell out for another MULE.

PS...feel free to post any questions in my thread on the MULE. I will be adding to it when I have a day off. I am super swamped this week though. Maybe Friday...

Take a look a the Camelbak HAWG. I recently moved up from the MULE to this pack. A little bigger in size with plenty of PALS for add ons. I really like the size and lightweight of the HAWG for knocking around.

Matador-
