These were introduced at Blade Show this past weekend. Three models with different locking mechanisms.

I for one am very interested since the blade length limit around here is 2.5 inches.

Wondering if anyone had a chance to try one and what you thought. Thanks

I would be interested in a native with a different locking style.

Frame or liner would be ideal for myself.

Found a little bit of info on the 2.5

Back Lock
Compression Lock
Slip Joint

Frame lock? Well, to each his own. They are releasing the knives with two much better, safer, and more user friendly locks as it is. I am looking forward to the release. What I want to know is the actual useable blade length. The pictures make it look as if the choil is so large it takes up useable blade space. If that is true, it will not be better than a Dragonfly. I am hoping for better.

Good point. I'm interested in knives with sub-2.5 inch blades because of overly restrictive local laws.

I've always felt that the best option would be the Dragonfly 2 with ZDP-189 steel that can be had for a little less that $80ish. Back lock, very light weight and the popular-for-good-reason wire clip is a combination that has been tough to beat.

Waiting to see the specs on the new Natives to see how they would measure up.

I'm a fan of the Dragonfly (I have 3) and you're right, it's hard to beat in the small knife category. However, if the Lil Native has the same refined back lock that the Native 5 has it too will be hard to beat. Especially for fans of that lock style who want a small knife that they can use a little harder. From the pics and vids I've seen from Blade Show it looks like the Lil Native will have thicker blade stock and will likely be thicker overall than the Dragonfly. Kinda hard to tell from pics though so I'm really just guessing. The Lil Native back lock will also be G10 with a full SS backspacer and (I assume) will have SS liners. So it'll probably be closer to the Dragonfly G10 than the DF FRN/LW.

Some other things to consider, from the pics I've seen of the Lil Native, the back lock & slip-joint models will have the hourglass clip but the compression lock version will use the same wire clip as the Dragonfly. I have no problems with the hourglass clip (I have several knives with them) but I prefer the wire clip for some reason. I'm still not sure if I'll get a Lil Native but if I do it'll likely be the comp lock version. I'm sure I'd like the back lock version but I already have several Spydies with similar construction (back lock, G10/CF, SS back spacer, etc). So the Comp lock version makes more sense for me due to the open construction, wire clip, and I don't have a small knife with the compression lock. But then, who am kidding, I'm a big fan of the Native 5 and small knives in general so at some point I'll probably end up with both.

Edit: Wow! I guess I rambled on a bit! Haha :)

I've watched the video from blade show with Eric talking about the little natives and I'm so stoked I hope I have one in my pocket by Christmas

I'm pumped about the Little Native! I would really like to see the slippie and back lock versions sans liners!!!

I really like the overall profile of these new Little Natives. Having a choice of locks (or no lock at all) is a great idea.

I will see how compassion lock on Shaman will work for me, then I will decide, which Lil Native to get. I doubt about slippie, but two others look attractive.

I have a 2-7/16" Leafstorm that I have carried in a restricted environment every day for many years. I love it, especially the robust blade shape. The RIL lockup is solid as well. I think that it's been discontinued now, but may be available used.
