i love the native design. when can we expect the stainless with plain-edge and the lw with 440V? also, is there ever going to be a large native with a 3.75-4" blade? that would definitely be a bit hit with people here on BF and if you got rid of the swedge on that model, it wouldn't be as scary to the sheeple either. oh, i'm just dreaming and babbling, but how about the first two? c'mon sal, you promised.

IMHO, if you make it larger and remove the swedge it wouldn't be a Native.

so call it the "local" instead of the native

i was trying to get the point across that i love the blade shape and the handle design, but a swedge on a knife that large would scare many people enough to call it a "dagger" or some other horrible term that people get scared of. since i'm going off here, i'd like to see it with tan G-10 scales and a flat ground blade. that would be a sweet knife. before anyone points it out, i realize that the full size calypso is close and i have one of those, but a larger native would really get me.(and i would get it

Leroy, if you look back a bit, you'll see my post entitled, "Design idea(s?)" I made a few suggestions. You might find the thread to be of some interest. There were quite a few good ideas from others, in fact (but if only my suggestions were taken, I'd still leap like a schoolgirl

ok guys, i just went back and drooled over the native chief pictures and discussion. sign me up for at least one, maybe three or four!!! the only bad thing is that i might let go of some of my other spyderco's for it

howie-i remember that thread, i even responded to it. the lightweight with 440V was supposed to replace the standard lightweight with the GIN-1 starting this year, or at least that was my understanding. and sal said just a few days ago in a thread on the native II that they were going to have them in plain-edge. i'm just looking for release dates on them. the other is a hopefull dream.

ewok-i have gotten a couple of comments on the swedge, though most people don't notice it on my BF native like they do on my regular. for some reason, the swedge makes it more evil.

i'm hoping for enlightenment from a spyderco rep. or sal on this thread.

Leroys - several months on the plain edge stainless model. The CPM-440V are being ground right now. Should start hitting the dealers in 2 or 3 weeks. BTW Grinding time and wheel wear on the CPM is double the GIN-1.

The concept model "Native Pride" will be shown at the Shot Show next week. Dealer response will tell if there is to be one.

"Native Pride." Now that just fills me with, well, Pride

YES, YES, YES!!!! can't wait to see them, in my hands that is

let's see, the LW in 440V should keep me happy till the plain-edge stainless comes out. then that should keep me happy till the native pride comes out.(dealers and ELU give me a hand here) thanks for the update, sal.

for some reason, the swedge makes it more evil

My modified Native (AlterNative?) with the added serrations on the swedge should really scare them then. Good thing it hides well in the concealex sheath.

The only comments I've gotten from non-knife people that I show the Native to is "That is COOOOL! Where can I get one"?
The new Natives are gonna be a hit, I can feel it. They're already a huge hit with me, and I've yet to see one.
Send the first batch to Fla. Sal!
I see two in my immediate future!

If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid!

I can't wat for the new Natives! The Native is my favorite design and if it comes out in February, it will be just in time for my birthday. I just hope the Military Jr. comes out it this year so I can complete my Spyderco fix.

Sounds great! 440V is a fantastic steel and it'll be neat to have it in a lightweight. Also, "Native Pride" is an excellent name; much better than the "Chief" in my humble opinion.
