I like neck knives, and I finally got around to making a sheath for a knife I've been thinking of "turning into" a neck knife. Sheath is kinda lopsided, but it really works well with great retention. The 1.8 oz. Waimea comes out easy with a flick of the thumb. It's fun to mess around with kydex.

Neat. The lopsided effect actually looks good, leaning towards the curve of the handle.

Nice one

I bet that would work great on a shoulder rig, it would carry a bit more discreetly too.

That is cool. Would you consider removing the clip? or did you want to keep that carry option.

Thanks for the comments. I thought about removing the clip, but thought it would be nice to keep the clip option also.

Nice work. I just got a press recently and am curious to see the possibilities that others are coming up with.

nice setup! How do you like the waimea overall? Any comments regarding fit in hand, overall finish quality level, etc.

Top notch in all regards. This one and the 172 are great designs well executed by Buck. Very solid & crisp lock-up, and the blades were centered on both of the ones I have owned (I got this one after giving my Dad my 172). I like the 171 as a neck knife, but for the pocket I like the 172 better. It is smaller than I thought it would be - quite a bit smaller than the 172.
