I just got my new Limited Production Offset from Dantes today and I was shocked at the size and weight of it. This thing is a moose!, but a Moose that I will happily keep.

1597GRY?
Thats what I was wondering. I thought the aluminum handled Offsets had black blades. Now that I think about it, a black bladed 1597G10 would be awesome.
nice pic up there NY! that be the grey bladed Offset with the alum. handle.
bookworm, 1597GRY is the knife's model number
there are three variations: 1597, 1597GRY, 1597G10.
the alum. handled models are the only ones with the two blade colors, grey and black. the G10 version has yet to get that treatment
The 1597 is the first version with the black blade. They are numbered to 1000.
The 1597GRY has the grey blade and is not numbered. There were actually less of these made.
Wouldn't that mean that since they aren,t numbered that there would be no proof that it is part of a limited production run? I bought it to keep as a collectors piece and as such without it being numbered it is pretty much worthless as one.
did you get it off the internet? if so where? false advertising is very very possible here. There really isnt proof.
Something to consider...
Although 1000 numbered black-coated model-1597 Offsets were produced as a "limited edition", only a few hundred of the 1597GRY models were produced.
These aren't numbered, but any really knowledgeable Kershaw collector is possibly acquainted with these facts, and even if not they're easy to find out, so...
Which model is really more collectible? The one with 1000 available, or the one with only a few hundred that should ultimately be harder to find?
Sometimes I'm glad I'm limited financially in my ability to collect and forced to limit my purchases to knives I actually use on a regular basis...
Of course, I'd really rather be flush and able to do both!
NY Marksman: here's hoping the seller resolves your issue and you get the knife you wanted and paid for!
