I really wanted a Barlow so had a go at making one, first time making a knife in a particular pattern. Blade O1 at just under 3" & 7" overall, 4" closed.

The liners & bolsters are all one piece of wrought iron that I've etched to try & bring out some of the grain though it doesn't really show in the pics.

Scales are oak from a big table some friends were throwing out as it had sections of woodworm, it had been made out of a big door at least 40 years ago & still had an original wrought iron hinge on it as a feature so goodness knows how old the door was, I'm guessing the oaks is very old.

I've tried to give it an old look, it'll probably benefit from a bit of use to get the blade scratched up :)

Awesome! I love the profile of that blade, looks like a good slicer. I'd call that a success. How's the action?

Thanks. It has a good snap open & closed & has a half stop. The pull is average, my previous folders were on the heavy side which is what I like.

It's got soul !! I just love the use of wrought iron. The integral bolsters and liners and that oak...wow  Masterful A friend of mine used to design slope gliders with exaggerated features...we called it Cartoon Design. They looked magnificent in the air !!
I would love to see even more accentuation ;)

I really like that a lot! It has tons of character, and it just looks cool : ) If you ever make another like that please let me know! That would be a treasure to own

Fantastic barlow! That would fit right in down here with the Live Oaks and Wrought Iron fences that surround the Plantations along the Mississippi River!

Excellent job. :)
Any plans for a production either as a completed knife or as a kit?
While I prefer a two blade Barlow, I would be interested in one of these, and I suspect I would not be the only one.

(If you do a two blade production version, please consider a full size clip point and full size sheepsfoot or lambsfoot combination.)

Again, thanks for the comments :)

This was made for me, I fancied a Barlow so thought I'd have a go. I'm flattered by the interest & maybe in the future I'll make some to sell (& obviously subscribe to the forum before discussing it further).

Everybody knows, that knife's got soul!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Outrageous!!
I'll trade you my pickup truck and three ham sandwiches for it!!!

Mustard on the ham sarnies?
