Hi everyone. This is my first post/thread, and for some reason I figured it would be fun to talk about the knives that we liked so much that we bought another one of the same...

For me, it's my ultra cheap EDC, the Gerber Mini Paraframe. I've had the old one for over 7 years, and I just got two more (one serrated one for myself and a plane edge for a friend)

It might be made of low grade 440 (probably A, not listed by Gerber), but this is one small, lightweight, and affordable knife. It's easy to sharpen, and now you can get them for ten dollars. Mass production hasn't seemed to hamper the quality too much, as the new knives were fairly sharp out of the box and the locks worked fine. My only complaint is that these knives are hard to open or close until they get broken in. They are definitely not a one hand opener like Gerber claims. Also, the pocket clip isn't reversible.

Anyone else have pics of their old and new knives? How long have you had the old one, and why do you like it so much?

First off, I don't have pics. :( My story's slightly different. I had bought a Boker Trance years ago. I really liked it but wound up selling it to a friend. I started missing that little big knife so much I was going to get another but really wanted my old one back. My buddy liked it so much I had to beg him to let me buy it back! So, in essence I kinda bought it twice. Since then I've bought a few more as gifts. The recipients all love them!

Good one. I probably feel the same way about my paraframe as you do about your Trance. Funny, my knife only cost 10 bucks but when something like that goes with you every day for years and you use it all the time, you can get real attached to it. I had my paraframe on the trunk lid of my car once (was using it to strip audio wires) and I drove off. I walked around for an hour at night with a maglight until I found the knife in the middle of the road (closed, thankfully). It had been run over but it still works fine.

I have a trusty Kershaw Cyclone which was the first knife I bought for myself. It's been through all kinds of chores and abuse (everything from working in a warehouse to camping and kitchen use) and as soon as I heard they were being discontinued I went on a popular auction site and bought a new one so I'd have a spare handy in case anything should happen to the one I carry. Even with all the spine-whacking, tent-peg-hammering, tin-can-opening abuse I've put it through it still locks up tight as a virgin canary and works just as well as it did when it was new. I don't have pics of the new one (It's just sat in its box since I bought it), but I'll see if I can borrow a buddy's camera and take some side-by-side pictures.

Here's the old one:

I liked the Buck Mayo/TNT so much that I ordered a second one to put away a couple of weeks later. I'm glad I did since the Buck/Mayo folders are now discontinued.

I have multiple Buck 110 knives, but the one in particular that I just had to have a backup of is my Bass Pro 110 in CPM-154 steel. Just one hell of a knife.

Here's a picture of a knife I sold a few years ago , a CRKT M16 Big Dog... I kept thinking about this knife so I bought a titanium version a few months ago. I don't have a picture of it yet.

I bought a CS Desperado about 15 years ago and always ment to buy another, because it's such an outrageously cool knife but then waited too long ,as CS discontinued the knife [ why LT!? Why???] However CS found some forgotten Desperados in a warehouse and offered 2 for $50. Needless to say I snapped them up. Now I've got 3...so are you talkin to MEE?...there's no one else here, so you must be talkin to me... [ if you're not a fan of De Niro in "Taxi Driver" you don't know what the heck I'm going on about do you?]
