The 162OT that LT acquired was great. That boot knife/dagger pattern was one we had heard of for several years. but never seen. And we also know that several more samples might be out there waiting to be discovered.

Here is another Old Timer that recently came to light. As you know, the very first Old Timers were Ulster tanged. And by now I am pretty sure that you have all seen the trio of knives from the Prince Albert promotion. If not, a visit to Schrades-R-US will be worthwhile. This knife was found illustrated in some circa 1960-61 papers recently acquired from the Irv Tractenberg collection. Those papers included both Schrade Walden and Ulster information. It will take a while to digest it all and put it in context, but here is something you might start looking for... a 50OT Serpentine Jackknife made on the 3 - 5/16" frame of the 58OT. Also note the fopah of it's listing as a 500 T.

You just thought you had all the Old Timers! Larry, you know anything about this?

Codger,
I noticed that the Ulster OTs were listed that way, as 50O T, or 58O T in the 1960-1961 Ulster catalog. Although they listed them as 50OT & 58OT in the price list and in another part of the catalog.

Here is the 58O T from the Ulster Catalog.

It is weird that that they printed them that way.

This little 500 T was made when the line first came out there are a few around. They were not made for long. In favor of the 58. The OT line began in 59. Often the early knives were marked with the three digits and then the T . This was due to several reasons. First employees were used to Schrade waldens which used 3 digit numbers sometimes followed by a letter. Schrade Cuts used four digits. I still refer to to the 15-OT as the 150 one five oh T. That is because I like the brochure am old an still do it that way. LT PS Nobody has everything .

OK so you decided to call my 162 OT with a mere picture of a 500T. Heck it aint worth it but I will let it stand and raise you this little scrimshaw. Supposed to be released as a third alternatve 75th anniversary, ( Bone gold version , Silver staglon, and this model in scrim ) presentation knife I also had both of the scrim dies and since I never knew what it went to gave it away or stashed it. I do have the scroll scrim die on the other side.

I have spoken to several people on this knife including the artist ( Frank G ) these never went into production ( no one wanted them when they could have the other versions.) This proto is from the presidential board. This is another one I had dogeared for myself if I bought the whole collection. Then it came up on ebay. There were others on the presidential board but this one is rather unique in that it is not a customized ( Herman Williams ) knife but rather a knife designed to be sold that was simply never produced due to lack of market interest.

As you may or may not know I have the other 8 models of this pattern which Schrade produced of this pattern. I also have all the scrim dies ( used for the Walden anniversary model the only other scrim ) tang stamps, original jiggings for the knife handles ect. The only models that came with filework were the 75th ann versions. However to make this set truly unique I had all the other issues file worked all done by the original artist. It is truly one of a kind. You can imagine how great I feel about losing the one die for this knife ( oh well ) anyway every thing else is there. Including the opposite side scroll die.

When this came up I knew I was buying it no matter what barring computer glitches. I sniped it and got it for under 500 dollars. Which was way less than half of my top bid. Needless to say I was a bit anxious . However I got her, and as Bobby Bare ( singer ) used to say that makes me the winner. Perhapes I will post a pic of the whole set. In the mean time I am putting ( trying to ) a pic of the presidential board proto. I do not know if there are any others of these out there I was told they only made one or two. So again who knows.

OK Micheal what else ya got??? LT

Aw what the heck I need the practice getting this picture thing down. Here is the pic of the clasp group which I mentioned in the previous posting Hey I changed the floppy drive ( that I mentioned in another post ) all by myself what a comedy that was. In this group if the pic appears. You will aside from the 8 patterns produced the ninth 75 proto ( which I mentioned ) I also had a special 100 year anniversary made for this collection ( hand done one of a kind ) I also have two Walden Anns to show both sides which were both scrimed. As I mentioned there are the dies ect along with a small plaques stating it was all Frank G work and the blade in the middle by itself is a 75 anniversary ( just blade.) To much stuff to get a good pic but should serve to give an idea and preserve my credibility. Down the road perhapes individual shots when I learn this pic posting procedure a bit better. LT

Er... um... wanna see my folding 15OT again?

I ma...um... I came by this knife after a lot of hard work on my pho...um a lot of time on the computer. It is a one of a kind (unless someone else downloads the picture, then there will be two).

Nice clasp LT! I am always glad to see you adding to the Langston collection, sometimes even recovering Langston pieces from it.
