I was at a fruit/veggie/flower/maple syrup making supplies/old tools and junk market. Paying up I see this:

Yay! 1st question what model is it?

2nd question what does EP stand for?

3rd what are those holes in the scales for? I did not think Wengers came with tweezers and toothpick. The bottom hole only goes down about an 1/4” and the top side a piece of metal.

4th any idea on the manufacture years?

Thanks for any help. Oh and I paid the nice man $5.

That’s a nice pick up for $5! I can’t help on the first two questions but the third is that Wengers do in fact come with tweezers and toothpick. I got a similar L.L. Bean Wenger that is a Sportsman. It has a locking blade and adds scissors and a wrench.

Popped the scales and lo and behold:

The other Wegner, which I bought at the L.L. Bean store when I was 13 or so, no tweezers or toothpick.

I guess I will be buying a new toothpick in a split ring.

My old girl has seen better days but was my every day carry for years.

I looked online for a replacement toothpick; there are some out there, which will cost double what I paid for the Highlander.

Since I have the broken one, I will use it as a template, then make one out of hardwood, plastic, or an epoxy. Put my fine arts degrees to work. Heheehe!

It could work.

ETA: Yesterday my pen clip accidentally broke, not kidding, then I realize perfect size to make toothpick.

I will Dremel tool it.

The piano keys were a no go. The white plastic was too brittle. I had one shaped about as good as one could do with ones eyes and an 18v cordless Milwaukee die grinder. Then SNAP! Ok no joy. Tried the pen clip; same fate.

I am going to try bamboo or a piece of metal.

I have about the same thing-but says "Eddie Bauer" on the scales and is reputed to be a locking main blade- scales etc. rough and missing the tweezer and toothpick! Still a great knife for $1.00 at a yard sale
and I do use it from time to time.
