Thought I would share a new knife I got in recently, Its the first custom I have ever designed (although Ryan did suggest some changes). I chose to go with Ryan Weeks because he already has some designs that really spark my interest. I named this one the EDT (Every Day Tasker) .The knife you are seeing is a prototype, the final version will be in S90V, just testing it out for now.
Prototype Specs:
9" OAL
1/8" Stock
1084 steel
I wanted a Lean edge so Ryan suggested a " Radiused platen that is basically a very flat Hollow grind that creates a very trim sharp edge"
On to some pics during use.
The day I got it, I was very eager to try it out, of course given my luck it was raining like mad out. This is the first thing that crossed my line of sight.

Next day I was finally able to take it out.

As you can see the coconut is young and underdeveloped, it had fallen from the tree too early, a great test for the knife. You can see the clean slices, for those who are unfamiliar, coconut is tough stuff.

Handles wood very nicely, stood up to batoning with no problem. I also did some very light chopping and stabbing. Not really what I would use this style of knife for but I really wanted to test the design. The grind is absolutely superb, bites in deep and is very capable. Ryan's "flattened hollow grind" is awesome!

The edge on the 1084 held up very nicely, Ryan definitely has his heat treat down packed.
After all the testing I was kinda hungry.

Oh yea, flawless in the kitchen.
Some comparison shots with some of my favorites.

The knife performed well beyond my expectations. I am very impressed with Ryan's work and cant say enough good things about him, he really goes the extra mile to make his customers happy.
Ill make sure and add some pics when the final version is complete, thanks for looking.
