That's a slick looking knife.....nice job.

Are the scales paper base micarta? Please explain, I've never heard of compressed paper countertop material.

Hey thanks! The handle is made of Richlite, it's a dense material made from partially recycled paper and phenolic resin, I guess they mix it with resin, compress it then bake it. A friend of mine has a countertop business and gives me scraps of this stuff to fool around with, it's pretty neat stuff and stays grippy even when wet, it come in all kinds of colors too. My sig picture has it too.

Thanks for the explanation.

I don't know your intent for it, but the knife looks like piece #1 from a really nice kitchen set. No insult intended. I can visualize more knives based on that design. Maybe a steak knife set in a smaller size. Keep up the nice work.

Thanks, no insult taken, after I was done I thought, "crap, I made a kitchen knife".

You could have done worse......... and made an ugly kitchen knife.:thumbup:

I'd like to see this knife directly from the side. When the photo is taken from an angle like that, it is hard to tell what the knife really looks like.

Here Ketih, sorry about the weird lighting, I have no light box and usually take all my pictures outside (in the daytime). Thanks, Tim

Very nice knife, and I love the blade, nice work. Black paper base is used for labratory counter tops and more. I carry black paper base which is the very same. It comes with a thin melamine hard coat for protection, but the core material is all good, solid black. The supplier makes this stuff primarily for counter tops, not knife scales. I love this black paper because it buffs out soo nicely.
