These are some I've been working on. Just got them back from Heat treatment. All are ATS-34 5/32 Cryogenic treatment and triple tempered. RC 59-61. Peter's Heat Treating. I've been changing my designs some, adding a little to the overall length.
All are mirror polished. I have nine more in this batch. I will experiment with some other finishes. I'm kind of stuck on the polish. The polishing is probably the hardest part for me but I seem to enjoy it the most.
The top two are 7"
next two 8 1/4"
next two 8 1/4"
last two 10 1/4"

This was my first batch to be sent to Peter's. I sort of did a drop test. I stood in the back of my truck and threw one above the second story eve of my house and let it hit the concrete driveway. There was no damage to the blade. On the first throw it landed on the tip. The second throw it landed on it's side. It would appear it's some pretty tough stuff.

Let me know what you think.

I was told if it was to hard and not treated properly it may shatter or chip. Not having any formal training in the area of metal work or heat treatment. I tend to go on what I read and hear from my mentors. The treatment I requested from Peter's was the same that the late George Herron used for years, as well as My current mentor/friend George Guthrie.
