i ordered an ontario sk5 blackbird from hedgehog leather works and there customer service was amazing. The handle is very comfortable and its sexy but i tried various typed of wood and i was surprisingly disappointed, it did not bite in deep at all it was really hard to get into the diff woods, i tried it with my mora to see if it was the wood and the mora dug in more than twice the length that the SK5 Did, im contemplating sending it back because its suppose to be a heavy carver but its really inefficient at carving and other small task. im thinking that maybe i got bad one but it doesn't look like anythings diff from the appearance but does not perform well at all at carving.

I got mine about six months ago and it was same thing. The edge grinds were slightly uneven, and it wasn't very sharp. I still have to sharpen or get it sharpened. I think it would be OK with a good edge....

Yea im not sure about it im really not satisfied with it and especially since it cost 130 bucks with shipping total

Google. A couple have failed. 154-CM at a target up to 60 RC - allegedly because that steel is the best balance of characteristics for a heavy-duty FFG survival knife.

Paul is a great guy. He has vast knowledge of the outdoors. He makes outstanding leather sheaths. He has an awesome website. But for an outdoor knife, the SK5 Blackbird would NOT be the one i choose. I own a LOT of Ontario products & love the ones i have. Knives are like your spouse---everyone likes something different. I personally would rather have a thicker blade, with a thinner edge. I have done some wonderful things with my thick blades, once i bought myself a 6" disc/4"x36" belt sander & a 1"x30" belt sander.
