Does anyone have any information on if or when new options (steels, handle materials, etc.) will be available in the custom shop?

I'd love to see some different figured woods and CPM-154!

Maybe someone at Buck can dig up a box or two of BG-42 hiding in the warehouse? :)

Well if we are going to get into making suggestions for the custom shop, I've got a few:

First, do away with the Alpha and replace it with a Vanguard and 119 for the fixed blade. S30V and 13C26 for steel options. Of course, I think Ironwood would be super but micarta/G10 and the Dymondwood color would be great.
Second, on the 110 get rid of Satin 420hc option and replace it with a satin 13C26. There custom knives afterall.
Third, add a S30V drop point 110 blade with a nail nick.
Fourth, add the 112 with all the 110 option possibilities including the new Drop Point
Fifth, We need some more handle options for the 110 some different colored micarta and/or G10. Hunter Orange and Digital Camo come to mind as exceptional options.
Sixth, add some liner options.

I know this is a long wishful list but wouldn't it be nice and really not that difficult.

How many of you folks that havn't ordered a new CS110 in a while would jump up and order some with the above additions/changes? How about a 110 with a Droppoint, NS, Rivets, and Hunter Orange G10. Who could resist that!!!
Just Sayin' :)

Well, my favorite is a 110, S30V blade, nickel silver bolsters, sambar stag, and I have that.

But how about a mirror polished S30V blade?

And a drop point option as flatlander suggested?

There are many fine woods that could be added to the list, here are a few:
Tulip wood. African Padauk. Purpleheart. Flame Maple. Quilted maple.

I couldn't resist one. Those were some good options.

Would love a drop point and I can see the market for the hunter orange.

All in all a great list of suggestions.

I would also like to add some serrations or ridges to the back of the 110 blade where your thumb rest at times. Makes for a more secure hold and should be easy to do.

I would love to see 1,3,5, and 6.

Oh I forgot!!!

Picked Bone....We need some bone!!!

Buck 110,

I was talking about decorative liners like this blue ones.

I'd like to see for the 110:

1. Damascus blade
2. Drop points
3. Damascus bolsters (a bit much, but this is a wish list)
4. BG42
5. O1 (maybe?)
6. Ironwood
7. Bone

I'd buy a lot more of these if I had more options, or options I liked better. The colored woods don't appeal to me and 420 doesn't seem worthy of a "special" knife. I like the stag but it's too expensive now.

Lastly, ditch the Alpha Hunter for a 124 or a 119.

Here's the thing: It's not really a "Custom" shop at all.

It's sort of a mass production semi-custom shop that doesn't make "one-of-a-kind" knives at all.

I don't see any movement toward real custom work in the cards for the future.

Simple things (like Ohen's suggestion for a ribbed thumb-rest option) might become available, but you'll have to go elsewhere for real custom work (and pay accordingly).

I'm with ya,all that list sounds good to me!lol:thumbup:

A fixed blade, other then the Alpha, would trip my trigger. A 119 or even a 103. How about a 118 with a new and different handle and fancy steel. Some of us old, traditional guys aren't necesarily turned on by the newer, fancy styles. I know styles change, demand changes, and they have to cater to what's hot--that's just good business. Just don't leave us "old" guys, who like traditional styles out of the equation.

Jack from Colorado.

-14 chill factor outside as I write this. For you skiers, Wolf Creek Ski Area has a 79" snow base, as of this morning.

So true, though I wouldn't call it "mass production" . I'd call it "assembly options". They likely have all the parts in shelves or cases that are ready to be fit together and finished. True custom would allow for special one-of-a-kind requests, like that wolf cut-out I'd like on a 110, or special design requests for the handle, like the cross of St. George that was talked about on another thread. Or 12 carat gold bolsters, or custom acid etched blades...

The Buck custom shop is nice, in any case. I'm just waiting until January to place another order there.

Well, yes......but it's way more toward mass production than it is custom. No doubt they keep some of the more commonly requested versions of the 110 in stock.

One thing I don't understand is if they're making 110s with ironwood handles for other people......you'd think that they could also offer ironwood in the Custom Shoppe.

I mean......if they already have it in-house, why not?

Good point (re. ironwood). Likewise for titanium aluminum nitride S30V blades. I once asked for a distressed leather sheath for a custom shop order but they said it was not available.

With true custom you could essentially design your own knife, but as you say, I don't see that in the cards.

Ti handle with rubber grip dots on it ?
Damascus frame like a 560? omg !!! hubba hubba!!!
