Push Daggers are cool, no doubt about it. Seems like they have enthusiastic support from a passionate subset of custom knife collectors. One of the most compelling examples I've seen recently is Harvey Dean's New Orleans Push Dagger. Per Harvey, this push dagger is designed to be held in the palm and between the first and middle fingers, as opposed to the middle and ring fingers. I can vouch for its natural fit in the hand when held in the manner Harvey describes. The handle carving is superb on both sides and the damascus patterns are exceptional. IMHO, Harvey perfectly balances the essential elements of beauty and danger in this fine piece of work. :D

I think they tend to be a love-them-or-hate-them thing. I am generally in the latter camp. But I can still certainly appreciate the artistry involved in this one.

I have never been much of a fan of push daggers, however just the right combination of carved ivory, feather pattern, texturing and subtle gold inlay make this peice quite special. Harvey and Steve Dunn contributed much to the feather's current popularity. That sheath is outstanding, Paul Long?

I'm in the push dagger camp too... This one is as nice as I have seen in quite awhile.. Buddy, you did the dagger proud with your picture.. Thanks for showing this one to us... Rich

Just the right amount of New Orleans fancy.
Harvey's feather pattern is my favorite.
Awesome sheath to go with it.

AWESOME on all counts!

Feather is amongst my favorite damascus patterns and Harvey Dean does it superbly. Great carving and gold inlay too!

Wow That is one sweet push dagger the carving is very nice . If I had seen it without knowing who made it I would have though that the carving was done by Larry F

For those who love this style of knife, here is another Harvey Dean push dagger from last year's AKI.

And here is a Larry Fuegen "clip point push dagger" from that same show:
