I wanted to share photos of a prototype I have been working on for awhile now. I have been drawing similar blades on paper and this is what I came up with. The Specs are as follows.. 3/16ths thick, Flat ground with sharpened clip, It has a tapered tang which puts the balance point right at the guard. It really makes the knife feel lively in your hand. It measures 6" at the blade and overall 11 1/8 ". I sandblasted the handle to provide lots of extra grip! As of right now I really like everything about this knife. It is nasty looking. It Bites with purpose in anything I cut into or stab. I plan on conducting more testing suited for this style knife soon. More pictures of that to come. I still have not decided on a name for it and i am open to suggestions.

Please feel free to leave feedback.
Thanks,
Chris

As with all the knives you make, your sense of proportion, use of material and clean lines come together to make an incredible package. That is a great design and one of the most simply striking examples of a fighting knife I have seen.

We could not find anyone in the parking lot that wanted to fight so we had to improvise

Thank you very Much, I put a great deal of thought into my designs, It is very rewarding to hear people recognize it in my work.

 Looks like a great fighting knife Chris! Not that I'll probably ever use one, but I sure appreciate an excellent fighting knife. I got a name suggestion, how about Bad Ass MoFo! ;)

Send it down to Texas so I can run it through a few paces. We'll see how she holds up to a live animal. [emoji6]

I feel sorry for the trees around the Forge's headquarters. I am sure many knifes get "tested" on them (HEHE).

That knife looks amazing Chris! I love it. It reminds me of the knife the desert people carried in the movie Dune. I love that blade geometry, and I really love how you brought the micarta down lower on the guard for a fighter. One of the reasons I stopped doing R&D for one of the companies I used to do work for was that I got tired of fracturing my finger on the thinner steel of an integral guard in thrust and penetration tests, and tired of request to adjust designs going ignored. The balance is perfect! The handle looks very ergonomic and great for multiple holds. I really don't need a dedicated fighter, but I do love the geometry of this one and how well it flows. I think you have been doing your homework well :)

Thanks Everyone for the Compliments and Feedback, This is the First one completed I still have some minor refining to do, I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the fit and finish of this knife because I knew I was l going to Abuse it.
The next one I make I will spend more time on the finish making it as clean looking as possible.

Stay tuned for more pictures I plan to do some more tests on it.

Brian,
I did do alot Of homework I purchased several books, a couple of knives, and asked alot of questions. I also drew from my military experience, for me it has to do what it is meant to do not just look like it. A fighting knife should make a statement as well as perform how it looks these together make a physical and psychological weapon.
I have had many tools that looked cool but performed poorly at there task, on the other hand not all tools need esthetics to play as important of a role as it does in a weapon.

I have to second Bryan on the guard and add the lack of a choil/ricasso! While useful on a larger knife for craftwork- choils are the bain for a combat/fighting blade.

Have you thought yet about how you might do the back clip for those of us in states that prohibit carry of "double edged" knives?

Bill
