Yesterday I picked up a new Henry Frontier model .22 Levergun. Took some pictures of it with my Ruger Single Six Convertible and a new French Style hawk. The Ruger is the first pistol I bought. Got it back in the summer of 2006. Ordered the Hawk and Rifle for my birthday with year.

This summer I'll be doing a bit of camping up in the Manti La-sal National forest and this is the Combo I plan to use. Mostly it's for target practice and plinking. So, what do you all think?

Very nice combo! Nothing like plinking with a .22 lever gun!

So true, lever action .22s are a blast. Growing up I used to go to a summer camp every year in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Horseback, swimming, archery, the whole deal. They even had a rifle range with airguns and .22 lever action rifles. Some really great memories!!.....until the fear mongers convinced the camp that it was inappropriate.

Cheers,
Jon

I bought my Single Six on the day I got married. Twas a good day - I ended up with two prizes.

My first sidearm was a Single Six convertible- a great gun that solidly convinced me of the quality of Ruger firearms.

BTW, the first handgun I ever fired was a Ruger Bearcat II .22, custom engraved that was given to my father by my uncle. Unfortunately, it was taken along with everything else in my parents' house when a couple of tweekers robbed them a few years back!!:grumpy:

Nice equipment to be sure, but maybe you need to crop out the junk food dinner remains from your pics. :D

i love a good .22. i also have a very fond thing for lever action guns. my favortie firearm i own is a savage 99 (lever action .300 savage). ha, first gun i ever shot was a colt 1878 12 gauge double barrel. not recommended for the first time shooter at such a young age. second gun i shot was a marlin .44 lever action. so funny how you go full circle. i find myself always grabbing for the ruger 10/22 though. i love that gun. never should have sold the first one i bought.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying to deside between a few old Western brank knives I have. The two pics are of the L36, L66 and L48ABG. I have sheaths for the top and bottum ones. The L36 is the longest and strongest so I'll probably end up using it. It's also the knife I take to the outdoor range with me. LOL!!

I got a Henry from Wally world awhile back and it rocks. In a tie with my Lee-Enfield as my favorite gun to shoot. Can't beat .22's for cheap, fun shooting.

Supposedly I'll be going shootin with friends on Saturday. I don't have a car right now so I must rely on the kindness and schedules of others to go. So I took out my Henry while waiting for my Pot roast to warm up. The gun feels good in my hands. When I pull it up to my shoulder and aim at something safe it feels right, like this is how it's ment to feel. :) I have a Ruger 10/22 DSP thats fun to shoot and my brothers SKS, but to me, this Henry is perfect. Anyone else notice that?

Since you got the Hawk, I wouldnt bother with the big knife, Id say go for the bottom one in the picture. You can do anything else with the axe.

Yesterday I checked the sheath I made for that knife. Turns out I used my Sunday dress belt (thin) when I measured the belt loop. Won't work with any other belts I have. So I either need to go with the bigger knife or make a new sheath. Doh!!

How do you carry a hawk on your person? The blade is sharp and pointy, I need to find a safe way to carry it...
