I just got my 806D2 yesterday and I have a few questions for all of you that have this knife. I have noticed a slight gap between the G10 and the liner. This gap is only large enough to snuggly slide the edge of a piece of printer paper into, but it kind of bothers me none the less. My 710 that I have had since '99 has no such gaps. Do any of you guys' 806D2 have this gap? When I recieved this knife the blade was extremely off center, but I managed to fix this using the method that I learned on this forum. Also I noticed that when I open this knife quickly, the axis lock is very difficult to disengage. Is this common, and will it disappear as I break the knife in? There is a just a little side to side bladeplay when the pivot is tightened at the level for optimum opening smoothness. Is this common? Even though it may not sound like it, but I think this knife is great overall. It fits me hand superbly, cuts excellently, and carries well.

My 806D2 is flawless! I would suggest calling Benchmade and advise them. I'm sure they would have you send it in and they will either fix or replace. You'll find out they have outstanding customer service!:)

Mine has none of the problems you mentioned. Since you have already used it some I'm not sure whoever you bought it from would replace it for you but I would give them a call first. If they won't help you contact Benchmade. The lockup should engage immediately IMHO.

I remember some old threads where some of the axis locks were not engaging when flipping the blade - sounds like a similar problem. Do some searches and good luck :)

No. Shouldn't be any. Something is out of whack, though the thickness of a piece of paper doesn't sound too severe.

Yes, this is common. I scraped the BT2 coating off of the lock ramp on mine, and it fixed the problem. Others have just waited for it to wear off.

Well, if tightening eliminates the side-to-side play, then I would say it is normal.

My AFCK never had BT2 on the lock contact area. Right where the lock touches the blade, there's a layer of copper material, which has worn off just a *tiny* little bit. Plus, my AFCK never had problems with the lock engaging too tightly.

My current personal model has had none of the sypmtoms you' ve listed. But on another part serrated one I had there was some sticking problems with the lockup after wrist flicking open. After a short time, it was no longer existent. I guess there is a "break in" period in this instance. The 806D2 is a great multi purpose carry piece!
