I love my small Sebenza CGG. In fact I have been opening and closing it constantly since arrival about a week ago. It's smooth as butter and actually flips now easily. The question I have though is...have I over done it. Looks like my lock engages pretty far over compared to day one. Like I said I'm new...Is this a good, a bad or, it doesn't matter kind of thing?? Seems like everyone here wants the lock up to be About 50% and I think I'm at 60 after a week. Thanks in advance...

Nope- That is perfect :)

60% is about where it should be. The lockbar might travel a bit further over time, but it will be years (decades, perhaps) before you have to worry about "over doing it".

Enjoy the knife!

Like said about you are actually at the lower end of the spec on a CRK. I think you are in spec up to 80% if I remember right.

As others have said, it looks just fine. Most Sebenza's that leave the factory are about 60 to 70%.

I've got some with less, some about like yours, and some with more. As long as they're functioning well all is fine. And if you ever do have a problem they will take care of it. I've only had to send one in that developed some lock stick after many years, and the lockbar was about to touch the opposite scale. It came back at about 70, and smooth as silk. That was 5 years ago and its still at 70 with a perfect lockup.

Your knife looks great BTW  Great looking CGG pattern IMO.

Thank you all for the responses. I love this thing, it seems perfect in all ways. I am happy mine is acting as it should. Off to find a titanium frame lock flipper because I know that is not the point of the small Seb 21. I kind of wish they would do one...I like to be brand loyal when I find perfection in a product. Then again I'm not expecting BMW to make a car I can drive in the everglades either.

The later the better, as long as there is no play, I'm good!75% + is fine with me!

As others have said, it looks to be perfect lockup. I just received a Sebenza straight from the factory with nearly identical lockup, maybe a touch later even.

A suggestion to satisfy the flipper habit -- pick up a decent balisong. They are one of the few knives meant to be repeatedly opened, closed, fanned, manipulated, et cetera. Thus, they are made to weather the use as such far better than a frame lock, when it comes to repeated opening/closing. I got a nice little Flytanium 32 that has worked in that purpose for me. I'm still not much past the basics, but it is fun and safe for me to use.

Cheers!

Great idea thanks in the meantime I have been using a brad Southard positron flipper. It had a really nasty liner lock that I have loosened up to acceptability a week ago. I thought I would give it away but now it's a nice little flipper

I sent one in with over 95% lockup and lock stick and CRK told me they don't fix these things. They asked me what happens if a lookbar is over all the way at 100%? I said I don't know and I guess it develops lockrock. They replied that if the lockbar moves over 100% toching the other side it will still function fine because it can not travel over any further.
